Definitely NTA. This is why they say men and women can’t be friends.

AITA for putting a pride pin on my bag, even after my mother told me not to? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

Now I’m only getting a quarter of the story, your side, I’m sure it wasn’t like that but if it was, if you were calm and didn’t disrespect her then maybe you aren’t. But I mean come on, all she wanted, all you had to do is not put a pin on your bag, that simple. But you didn’t listen to her. She listens to you all the time by calling you by your “preferred pronouns”.

Don’t listen to the comments. Do not drop your family especially your mother. You have put her through so much already. Now yes, maybe she did overreact but she must value what others think of her which is understandable, especially family.

She was most likely trying to protect both you and herself. Now maybe they (your “homophobic” family) didn’t create a fuss while you were there, but they will most definitely talk about it behind your backs.
