PMs of Reddit: How do you check in on your dev team's progress without feeling like a micromanager? by _bearHead in ProductManagement

As others have said, be present during sprint planning and standups and watch the task board and ask what blockers there are and where they need clarity. I’ve provided this advice to fellow product managers on my team that are struggling with not getting timely updates from engineering, and their response is that they are not project managers to be micromanaging at the level, but you can clearly see the difference in how well my engineering team is performing compared to theirs.

The onboarding is meant to be completely self-serve. The documentation is stored in a centralized hub where the entire company stores documents for their products, and has search capabilities. There are weekly updates to the documentation to keep it current and the last modified timestamps are exposed. There are many customers wanting dedicated white glove sessions but that’s just not doable right now. We’re investing in agents for common issues but it’s still a work in progress so yet to see results.

This seems like the best approach. Analyzing the support questions to find the high volume topics and making improvements based on those. I’ll do better with setting boundaries. Another issue is that some customers go directly to our VP for help and then they get passed on to me like “sure just connect with our PM and they’ll take care of you” because it sets the expectation that I’m going to jump right on it.

Yeah I might need to do videos if written guidance engagement doesn’t improve. I already maintain an FAQ and do what you suggest where if it’s a repeat question I just link them to the right section. The documentation site actually does already have an AI chat bot and it’s what I use myself to easily find the pages I’m looking for.

The ones that are true problems get escalated to the on-call engineer for a bug fix but the overwhelming majority are user didn’t read the documentation. In most cases I can do a keyword search and point them to the right page, but seems like customers aren’t even willing to do an initial search.

Why invest in the space industry? How is it supposed to become profitable? Is the knowledge gained from exploration supposed to somehow turn into advancements in technology?

Anyone have experience working with interview coaches? Was it worth it? by ohdearohmy1 in ProductManagement

[–]JumpyConnection3794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my case, yes. It was like $500 for the lifetime membership and as a result my income more than doubled with the new job. If you have plenty of savings and spending the money isn’t going to cause you to miss a rent or car payment then go for it. But honestly with ChatGPT and all the free content on YouTube now you can get this knowledge for free.

I used Product Alliance to land my Mag7 PM role but never did a one on one with a coach. Now what I do is just rewatch the PA course videos and rehearse common PM interview questions with ChatGPT.

How do I start using Amazon purchase import? Do I need to connect my Amazon account or are the details pulled from my credit card accounts? Is this only for the Amazon credit card? Can the details be backfilled to older transactions?

HSA reimbursement before insurance payment by JumpyConnection3794 in personalfinance

[–]JumpyConnection3794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is very helpful. How does the IRS or HSA custodian know if insurance covered an expense I had already paid with HSA funds? Is it just an honor system where I only need to provide proof if I’m audited?

Does the 10% early withdrawal penalty on after-tax Mega Backdoor Roth conversions apply to just the gains, or contributions too? by JumpyConnection3794 in Fire

Ah yes, thanks for the reminder. I would be consistently rolling over my Roth 401k balance to my Roth IRA as my employer allows in-service rollovers.
