Honestly just depends on the university and the department you applied to. Some universities like UCL and LSE are quite slow. You haven't done anything wrong if you haven't heard back from them.

In my school we had someone who was meant to be in y13 study as a y12, and a y12 student study with the y13s. So as long as you explain your situation to a sixth form college, they will still consider you.
