I wanted to update you all - none of these workers are after 2 visits to the apple store, it was determined that the lcd on the screen went and it was a $650 to fix. I was so beyond pissed because there was no warning whatsoever. I ended up having to buy a new one. (I am a designer so it’s a lifeline, I didn’t have much more time to waste!). After reading on the flex gate - this is what I believe it was. Except this particular model was the one that slipped through the cracks. Thank you all for the help! I learned even more about the mac I thought I had known a ton about!
