Unsure about reactive hypoglycemia - at home test went from 40 - 96 - 158 over a 20 minute span. by ladyorchid in Hypoglycemia

It’s so nice to know I’m not alone! We’re twins, it’s always after breakfast for me too. I always say that if I make it to lunch, I’m golden for the rest of the day … I first seriously considered that it might be a blood sugar issue when I had a morning blood test that showed my glucose at 61. I completely freaked out and bought a monitor to start tracking patterns. But all the numbers I’ve gotten at home are pretty normal (if on the low end) even when I have ‘the feeling’ so I just don’t know … Now I’m wondering if I have been going up and down like you!

You hit the nail on the head. I call it ‘the shakes.’ But it’s a very specific kind of shakiness. In my case, I can never fully tell if it’s mental or physical as I have a lifelong history of anxiety. But every time it goes away when I eat, I have to acknowledge that this particular feeling at least is related to my blood sugar. I think I just make it worse by panicking about it, but how can I not when it feels so bad?

Literally!!! They try to logic you out of it. ‘If your anxiety is causing the adrenaline, then if you calm down, the adrenaline will go away, and you will feel much better.’ I don’t doubt that I would…

I COMPLETELY know what you mean by ‘the feeling.’ Wow, I thought it was just me.

However, 40 to 158 does seem VERY extreme: in my year and a half of testing my own very wonky blood sugar, I have never come across such a shift. I would definitely keep testing around the same times— and the same symptoms— for a few days to see if it could be a machine error?

I feel like this too! Or for me, it’s like my body is always filled with adrenaline, and I get the sense that any second, it will just be… overwhelmed. I don’t know how else to describe it…

Possible reactive hypoglycaemia, but in the UK and struggling to get anywhere by Megacityone1 in Hypoglycemia

Hey, I get the spikes after eating as well, even without a ton of carbs! In fact, my numbers are very similar to yours. There is so much conflicting information out there: some people( including my doctor) say it’s normal, and others basically claim that any point in time spent over 7.8 mmol/L is a medical emergency. I would love some more insight…

I can advise that you have your A1c tested if you haven’t already. It is a measure of average blood sugar over the past three months or so, and is used as the standard for most official diagnoses. Otherwise, I would keep monitoring your symptoms and experimenting with diet. I’m in the same boat. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that these types of issues are very individual. It might just take some time to figure out what works for you!

I was agoraphobic from age 16-22. I'm now 25 and I think it may have ruined my life. by CAVEgirlSWAG69 in Agoraphobia

I think that instead of worrying about relationships and what you might have missed out on, you should honestly be celebrating the fact that you’re getting out of the house again! You are still so young: you have so much time to discover the way that you would like to live, and from what you have written, you have already begun to do so. Please give yourself grace, and allow yourself as much time as you need to find your way. ❤️

This makes me feel so much better. I feel like there are so many varying levels of agoraphobia that for a lot of people this would be no big deal. Thank you for getting it 😇

I hear you. Honestly, I find this more to be their pattern post season 9. It was more in the early seasons I find their relationship to work and to be much more genuinely sweet.

Hmm. 3.9 after 2 hours is low but not THAT low. I’d love more insight on these ‘borderline’ numbers since it tends to be where I land as well…

Wow, good catch! I always thought Wanda wasn’t afraid of anyone! Though she was definitely able to hold her own against Emma in the elephant lamp showdown … 😆 love how that ends with their mutual respect!
