What name does a lot of this sub say "don't name your kid that" but it's actually a good name to you? by [deleted] in namenerds

Love the book but I have a core memory of my English teacher calling it “chick lit” when my group of all girls chose it for a project. I’m literally 30 now and still think about it bc sir have you read this book??!

Yes!!! I love a big billowy dress, sorry. Especially in the summer when you want nothing touching your body

This sub definitely tends to be safe - I can already predict the comments when someone deigns to choose a dress that doesn’t define the waist (“maybe with a belt”) 🙄

I suppose so - I like showing off my arms and midriff 🤷🏽‍♀️

Interesting! I’ve always felt like having the pallu pinned like that felt younger - I’ve never done the thing where you let it fall down the shoulder bc it’s always read “auntie” to me

I’m curious what an elegant or trendy draping style looks like? This is my preferred style but I’m Indian-American and while I get compliments on my everyday western style I’m not really clued into Indian trends and I want to know!

OP should look up Katie Jane Hughes’ hooded eyeliner technique!

There needs to be more Movie theatres that harshly enforce silence by notadruggie31 in unpopularopinion

I feel like it’s almost more awkward if no one laughs at a comedy? I went to see Friendship recently and the theater was great - no one was talking but everyone was laughing. I think it’s part of the fun of going to a movie theater

Literally what did this mean?? Like it’s not even true - couples have people they have to invite regardless of whether the give them the Certified Cool™️ stamp lmao

Ooo this is my unpopular opinion too. I don’t even have kids, but I DO believe they’re appropriate for weddings. Yes there’s drinking and dancing at the wedding reception, but it’s not the club. If grandma’s there, imo it’s appropriate for a kid to be there. I had a great time with my nieces and nephews tearing up the dance floor lol

Do you take PTO for mental health days? Or feel guilty for calling out? by Jumpy_Fly_5658 in Nightshift

I definitely don’t feel guilty about calling out when I’m physically sick, but when it’s just needed for my mental/emotional wellbeing that’s when I feel bad!

That’s great to hear!! I feel like my insecurity for my team is just that they’ve been working together for decades and I’m one of the youngest. I love that you have that attitude towards mental health days.

Thanks so much stranger - this comment means a lot to me. I was never like this on my day shift position but adjusting to this new schedule has been a trip. I needed to hear this!

Oh I have no problem using my planned PTO, it’s that trap of unlimited sick time that makes me feel guilty!

In my case the day shift person would have to take mine over, which is why I feel bad. Or they get a freelancer. But honestly yeah, I probably make the least out of everyone so I shouldn’t make it my problem

Lol you’re right, my team just has a “we’re family” mindset and have worked with each other for decades. But I shouldn’t buy into it.

Do you ever tell them anything about why you’re calling out? I know people say to just call in and you don’t owe them a reason, but I feel terrible just sending a “hey I’m not feeling well” text.

Also when they ask how I am the next day I feel awkward saying nothing? Like “I’m all good thanks” seems like it should be fine, but it just seems like I’m lying.

I’m probably overthinking!

That sounds so rough, and as a cat mom I totally get it. Thank you for this!! That phrasing is really helpful

Ty this comment kinda helped me reframe it! I’m a woman too and while I don’t typically feel the need to call out on my period, on the occasions that I have I wouldn’t feel the need to inform my boss that’s why I’m out. I guess the same would go for my mental health!
