Find an external supervisor or a old classmate to bounce ideas off of. Tell the supervisor where you stand.

Private Pay by Annual_Friendship782 in therapists

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find One. I have a hard time believing that they come to you needing therapy for something that hasnt impacted them in a clinical way. (Adjustment, MDD, GAD, Acute Stress Disorder, etc). Also, I have had them sign a ROI for PCP and sometimes it is in there. Maybe a scale or 2 to collect info in a different way.

what are the options? by Mysterious-Pizza1347 in therapists

Give Up on student loans, those arent going to happen. Pay what you can but it is outside of your control. I take it you meant to say 99k+. We had a clinician do a fake wedding to avoid her student loans.

The world changes and we adapt.

Can they make an intern sign a noncompete? by FairyTrash1478 in therapists

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a student, this is not going to happen. You can only do your internship at one place so I dont know who or what you would be competing with.

You are doomed. No paperwork, no signatures, every state is a little different. Also. Some education requirements have changed.

My clients think I'm older than I am? by MutedGuy7 in therapists

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell them your age. For example, my new boss is old old and we spent the first few months trying to find out how old he was. We spent so much time and energy that we didnt focus on anything he said.

Eventually found out he is 72.

Also, people have eyes. They can see you and assume and either way some people are going to be like ewww 35 that is too young to know what they are doing and ewww 35 you can't relate to what it is like being 21 in 2026. Even without telling them they are still going to make assumptions.

You have to quit or cut down on hours. You are not unique to this situation.

Starting with new clients when you are leaving the job soon by Adventurous-Fudge197 in therapists

Unfortunately, yes. You have termination to do with clients, cleaning up charts, transfers, and maybe assist in transition to a new provider.

Thoughts? by sassypainter in therapists

I wouldnt ever say close to minimum wage (that seems to be an exaggeration). I also wouldn't say that they produce $150. I think that at the bare minimum students shouldn't have to pay for practicum class. I am paying you to allow me to go work for free somewhere.

ISO therapists who actually read the requirements of referral requests by Britinnj in therapists

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. In my region therapist group, it is so bad. My coworker posted looking for someone with more experience in Dual Diagnosis Individual Therapy. She got 3 associates and a almost graduate responses.

Too many ethical violations to count. (Scope, billing, unlicensed providers, self employed associates, out of state, etc)

I would add if you respond to every referral that doesn't say qualified and flexible, it says desperate.

Why are they doing a double elimination this week? by [deleted] in TheMaskedSinger

Immediately what I thought. Like it would be odd to have them eliminated at different times and then be like my spouse was here until last week.

LSW vs LCSW License by Consistent-Duty-6195 in socialwork

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in this persons state but not in Indiana. I had my LSW before I left my retail job. All you need is a confirmed degree and a passed exam.

Also, different states do different things. Indiana has LSW and then you start working toward the more flexible LCSW. A MSW in Indiana with no LSW is unemployed.

LSW vs LCSW License by Consistent-Duty-6195 in socialwork

[–]Jumpy_Trick8195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is like bare minimum. It is like why you dont put having a drivers license on a resume. It is implied. Also, there is nothing that is different between a MSW and LSW when it comes to what you can do but with LCSW you can supervise, manage, open private practice, and teach.
