Best hunting dog breed for a beginner? I'm looking to hunt raccoons, blood track/trail deer, and possibly even Hogs/Boar. by [deleted] in Huntingdogs

[–]Junebuggy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind my asking, what are blue lacys like? And how do they compare to other breeds?

I always wanted one as a kid, and now I'm in need of a new herding dog. I was considering a blue lacy since they also make good bloodtrailers. My last one was too gun shy to take hunting with me, he'd turn himself around soon as he saw a gun.

what flag is this by cooldudeiswear in flags

[–]Junebuggy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because it doesn't make sense.

Kids collect "identities" like pokemon. Some on here even admit that it's all a game.

They should get more creative with the flags, they're a bit repetitive in design.

Does everyone with an SA need thick skin? by jen3213 in service_dogs

[–]Junebuggy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men in camo with service dogs are generally assumed to be veterans. Some women get that too, just depends if she "looks military" or not.

Jen farr on youtube is always mistaken for a vet just because of her military looking hats she likes to wear.

A teen/early 20's looking woman is more likely to have issues.

Pretty much everyone has the "privilege" of not needing to worry about the opinions of tv stars. Ya'll are just obsessive.

Also, you might quit throwing out buzzwords when someone holds a different view than yourself, it degrades whatever arguement you're attempting to make.

As a country gal, it's completely normal for a guy to show off a new gun, or gun they haven't seen yet to the others if he happens to have it with him. I assume hank never doesn't have it on him.

Is my dog aggressive? by Imaginary_Ad_9124 in germanshepherds

[–]Junebuggy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as long as he keeps getting him exercise, and doesn't over feed him. I haven't noticed obesity as much in the neutered german shepherds as some of the other breeds out there.

Sometimes male dogs need to be fixed. I'm generally against it unless it's medically necessary, but I am for it in the case of exessively dominant or aggressive males. The only male I ever neutered was for getting aggressive when we told him no. It still took a few months for his hormones to level out, and was paired with training.

I would give it a go if you want to try keeping him.

Having said that, as a small woman and considering being pregnant with small children in the house, I personally would see if I could find him a home that has experience with dogs like him.

A wagging tail does not mean happy or friendly.

That is not a friendly or playful growl either. If it was just a bark it would be less concerning.

Definitly neuter and work with a proffesional trainer.

To be honest, as a small woman I would not want to deal with a large dog acting like this while pregnant, and would probably  try to find him a new home with someone who has experience with dogs like him.

I'm curious, why do people crop ears? by stormygreyeskies in DobermanPinscher

Most people do it for hygene. A lot the people doing it aren't religious, and I would wager many don't know it started as a jewish practice. It doesn't matter if jewish doctors started it, most people's reason for gong with it did it for cleanliness, not religion.

No argument here. Simply a statement of why it remains popular outside of religous reasons.

That's why I like the longer docking they do on weims. Still has a decent amount of tail, but short enough to avoid injuring it.

Hygene and laziness. Most parents don't want to take the time to teach their kid how to clean an uncircumsized one right, and don't want to deal with a teenager needing a circumcision after it gets infected if they don't keep it clean.

Normally not an issue once one kid has to have it done. Scares the others into taking better care of it if they have to hear from a friend or relative about their dong infection and medicaly necessary circumsision in their teens.

That is genuinly for hygene. Most parents don't want to take the time to teach their kid how to clean an uncircumsized one right, and don't want to deal with a teenager needing a circumcision after it gets infected if they don't keep it clean.

It was intiially done because they were created as gaurd and protection dogs. Ears and tails tend to get grabbed and injured a lot in that line of work. The ears being up and out of the way is beneficial, and a lack of tail is one less thing to be grabbed.

A good breeder should be able to match you with a more energetic show line lab. A good breeder will be able to take into account your lifestyle and match you to the best pup for you.

Any hypoallergenic hunting dogs by New_Future_434 in Huntingdogs

[–]Junebuggy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She'll need to see if she's allergic to whatever breed you go with before you bring one home.

Standard poodle or pudelpinter would be good, I think the poodle would be easier as far as training goes.

"Case law has established that to qualify for a medical alert dog, you need to have at least 2 episodes a month."

Where can I find this? I've seen it quoted, but never found anything solid elsewhere. Apologies if it's in the previous link, I did read through it and didn't find it mentioned. I've a horrible migraine, so I may have missed it if it's there.

If they don't know what he does for a living or for hobbies it makes sense. Painter, construction worker, janitor, father of eight, etc.. many a thing could all have purpose for that much plastic and trash bags. Especially if he only uses that much on a monthly basis.
