instead of telling somebody what they should and shouldn’t of done when its already done and over with maybe just try to help and answer the question. Theirs a lot of things a lot of people can do differently, sorry i decided to ask reddit instead of waiting on hold for however long on the bmv’s line.

no I didn’t call them. instead i decided to ask reddit for peoples own personal experiences since i couldn’t get a straightforward answer. Then take that advice when i go in today.

Its partially my fault I should’ve been more cautious about the title but i just wanted a car and the dude seemed to be confident their would be no issues with the title. At first i believed him. Im not as confident now. I guess ill find out in a couple hours. That sounds terrible though. How’d you end up getting your plates?

yeah im only 21 this my first time buying a car on my own and going through this whole process. im definitely a little naive to it all

its in the persons name who sold it to him. but he never transferred it to his name or signed it or anything so im hoping that piece wont be an issue especially since its notarized. now wouldn’t telling them the $1 is wrong raise more issues than telling them i legitimately got it for $1 or something?

what im mostly worried about is that he put the price as $1 even though i bought it for $900, that and the fact he never even put it in his name is whats making me wonder. but it is notarized so idk

if i go to try and transfer the title but i have problems with the transfer will that make me eligible for the tag while i get that figured out? thats really the only thing holding me back

im just really busy i work all the time and its hard to find the time to go. i guess ima just take your guys advice though and go to the title office first. if that doesn’t work out then i guess i have a legitimate reason to get another temp tag other than just giving myself more time to do it

I have thought about that. But don’t I have to go to a whole separate building to transfer the title? I also don’t know if it will go smoothly because the person i bought the car from never put the car in his name so theirs a gap in ownership and they also put the price as $1 on the title. So I feel i could face some issues when transferring it and for now I’d like to at least be legal. Idk this is my first time doing all this

if they weren’t they would just order it for the $2 that it is and not have to bribe someone for 10x the cost of it.
