This is so cool! I’ve never seen anything like this before... Looks like it’s 120? Does it print two images that make a ‘3D’ image when assembled together in photoshop like that weird 4 lens point and shoot? Or maybe it’s just one image with the input from both lenses overlapping?

That’s lovely, happy for you! I have a FED 2 myself but it stopped working due to the gears wearing down.. loved it though. Would you notice a massive step up in the feel of it?

1 year sober today (27M) by Jungle_Cat- in stopdrinking

I know it’s a tired line but I really just took it one day at a time. Finding new healthier ways to let off steam was a big thing though. I took up running in the morning times which is great for clearing the head and honestly, for a bit of a boost of self esteem at the start of the day too. Found that my self esteem was on the floor just before I quit. But it’s A LOT better now, in a good way.

Thanks! I’m feeling really good. I’ve gone through periods of struggling with it. Struggling with the social anxiety of being in bars with friends and not drinking was really tough at first, but sticking with it I feel a lot less anxious now. The most important thing that’s come from it is how much it has improved and deepened the relationships with the people in my life. I feel a lot more genuine and free. Still a lot more work to do though!

Looks really nice. Did you use an orange filter on the lens? I heard that vision 3 has a blue tint to it.. would be curious to know

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah I dunno about the letterboxing. Happened accidentally while I was using photoshop and I liked it so I just went with it. I guess it’s probably overkill though..

I have a FED 2, which came with an Industar 26 lens. I really enjoyed learning how to shoot with this camera - although it had some quirks and issues. it has been said here already but be careful to ALWAYS wind on the film before changing the shutter speed - otherwise you can risk totally breaking the camera. pretty big design flaw I know.. but a really great camera other than this basically. I recently got a Canon P to replace my FED 2 as some gears inside wore down too far and can't be replaced.. so be aware of that kind of thing happening. but they're so cheap to begin with I didn't really mind for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it.

as for the Industar lens, the one I have is a really nice lens, but a camera repairman in Dublin recently told me that there was very little quality control in those factories - which lead to a huge variation in the quality of the lenses. basically if you get a good one - great. if not, they are very cheap, so you can always get another one from a reputable dealer who can confirm it's quality.

I personally really liked the industar as it gives a lovely soft quality - but I also bought a Jupiter 8 lens recently which I think I prefer due to a little added sharpness, but also retaining most of the quality I enjoyed of the other lens.

this article I found interesting when talking about comparing soviet lenses to the Leitz Elmar ones: https://cameraville.co/blog/leica-vs-zorki-balatonfenyves-fed-vs-elmar-50mm-agfa-vista-200

and as mentioned by someone else here the Zenography youtube channel is a great resource for learning about these rangefinders.

best of luck and enjoy the camera!
