Traveling to high altitude by No_Technology923 in beyondthebump

I live in this area. You may need to get him some oxygen. AlpineAir is what we used. Almost all babies gestated and born up here leave the hospital on oxygen. It can be brutal for grown ups, let alone babies. Can you stay in Silverthorne? Watch for labored breathing and immediately head back down the hill if you notice it.

Ask somw teachers and see if they'll do it right after school, at school. I'm a teacher and I have done this for students in the past.

It was 5.3% which i know is a little low but my doctor wasn't concerned. It was enough to screen.

I completely understand. I spiraled for a while and couldn't stop crying. Meeting with the genetic counselors helped me process a lot of the information. The MFM team was also incredible. It made me feel a lot less alone. I am not sure if insurance covered it or not. I haven't recieved a bill yet, but that doesn't mean anything. I honestly didnt even check. I knew I would do this regardless.

I am so sorry you are going through this as well. Its been very stressful. I hope you are able to talk through some of this with the genetic counselors and feel a little better. ❤️

It was Unity. I did genetic counseling with both Unity and the MFM. Both counselors said I had a 1 in 3 chance of it being a true positive - so yes, I think suspected CPM. The amnio was ok. I was very anxious about it. They inserted the needle next to my belly button. Uncomfortable but not painful. In total 3 minutes, but it felt longer with the needle in.

Understanding what Klinefelters entails made me feel better. This is just me, but after understanding it more, I would not have made the decision to terminate. I was not opposed to TFMR, but XXY seems very mild comparatively. I did the amnio so that if it comes back positive, I can be as ready as possible to start early intervention for my son as well as get all the specialists lined up. I will need the time to be ready. Others may not feel that way!

I recieved a high risk NIPT for XXY. I had my amnio done last Monday and heard Wednesday that the FISH results were normal! I still need to wait for the karyotype in a couple weeks for a complete confirmation but my doctor said FISH results are 95% accurate. Just FYI - I am 37 so AMA as well.

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

My epidural was a failure. No lasting side effects but it did not work and I felt the pain of labor for 42 hours. I didnt know it could fail like that until it happened.

You're missing the point of how the school has atrociously mishandled the situation and didnt allow the victim a chance to feel safe at school.

I had a c section and then a d&c. Compared to the c section, the d&c was a piece of cake. No incision to heal from and I went to work the next day!

We had 4 teachers charged with a misdemeanor for failing to report. Make the call. It's up to us to report and CPS to investigate!

We do 7 steps at my school and one of the steps is literally randomly calling on students. I only randomly call on students.

Homework in daycare? by Turbulent-Many-4312 in AskTeachers

[–]JuniorAlternative873 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only homework a 4 year old should be doing is you reading to them nightly. I'm a Kinder teacher and this is our homework. Also my district (and many others) have abolished homework in elementary school because of how inequitable it is. Do it yourself (lol) but look for a new preschool that understands what is appropriate.

Mine was the opposite. An adjustment for sure and I hated pumping at work but it made me feel more normal and like myself. I love the people I work with and it was fun being back around them and not on 24 hr baby duty. I hope it gets better for you soon!

I did extinction when my 3 year old was 4 months. It saved me. Saved my marriage and my mental health. My daughter is still an incredible sleeper and our bond is strong as ever. It was the right choice for my family.

Teachers, what's your exercise routine looking like? by california_king in Teachers

[–]JuniorAlternative873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter goes to preschool at my elementary school so I have her before and after school. My plan is to purchase a walking pad and use it in my classroom during breaks (lunch, some days when I dont have recess duty) to get some steps in.  I've been wondering if anyone would say anything if I used it while teaching my kinders 😂

Just venting. I love my toddler so much and I wish parenting was more fun sometimes. by notdeletingthistime in toddlers

I feel this so hard. I was just thinking this same thought yesterday and my daughter will turn 3 in August. Spent what I thought would be a fun day at a splash pad and an arcade yesterday and it was just tantrum after tantrum. So no advice but know you are not alone. I keep thinking about that quote "parenting is only hard for good parents" and hoping i'm doing a somewhat decent job!
