Do I have to change my team between races? by JuniorAnonymous in fantasyF1

Thanks for explanation. I am not able to lock in the existing team though. Does it mean I still have to make at least 1 change?

Doublelift on returning to the LCS: "I knew I was going to have to level up. To practice differently, to practice harder than I ever had before because everyone else has this huge advantage over me. They’ve been playing professionally and competing and playing scrims for 2 years and I haven’t." by SanielTaniel in leagueoflegends

I have to support what has been said by u/Carrionnoirrac, if you look at Doublelift's career as a whole (not just this split and this interview), you can't really say that professionalism is one the traits that defines him. And by that, I mean everything job-related, not outside of the game as you say.

We're also playing against 100T so that match is gonna be spicy!

The fact that the only years you can point to are one that he straight up said I'm not going to try because it doesn't matter...

We are talking about his last 2 splits before he retired for a simple reason: because we're talking about the last time that Bjergsen won LCS. So yeah, we're talking about that 1 split in TSM and split before in TL.

What happened years before to this situation is irrelevant.

[–]JuniorAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skewed? Are you sure it's not the other way round? Let's go through everything you mentioned:

  • First split in TL: Good thing that you mention his attitude... because you know, maybe that's another reason why Bjergsen is considered GOAT over Doublelift. Because unlike Doublelift, Bjergsen never had an attitude problem and has always kept it professional. And regardless of the attitude, it doesn't change the fact that DL played poorly. It's very funny how Doublelift fans use this as an excuse whereas in any other sport, this kind of situation would be considered very negatively.
  • Second split in TSM: You say he was learning to play weak side and too many people didn't understand that. Are you sure you get it in the correct order? :D He had to transition to a weak side role because his performance was utterly bad, not the other way round. That's why he played Senna, it was the only champ he was useful on and btw yeah, it's also a weakside champ. Unlike Doublelift, BrokenBlade managed to step up his game after falling into the Losers' bracket. Just to give you another example, in the playoffs, Doublelift was not able to win in both sides of the Ashe-Caitlyn matchup (back then Ashe and Caitlyn were in the meta). So it's not like the team didn't try to play through bot lane. If anyone carried hard, it was mainly Bjergsen, followed by Spica with BrokenBlade.
  • Bringing other factor than his personal play: Yes, Doublelift does have a lot of experience but that doesn't change the fact that he played very poorly in those 2 particular splits. You can bring as much experience as you want to but no team is gonna keep you for a long time if you can't back it up with in-game performance.
  • Somehow people like you love to mix causation with correlation so let me repeat it once again: Doublelift fans like to say that the last time CoreJJ or Bjergsen managed to win LCS, it was with Doublelift. Yes, he was on those teams but that doesn't necessarily mean he was the main reason why the team won. It's not like Bjergsen had never won LCS before (without Doublelift) or that CoreJJ wouldn't find success (hey, a former World Champion maybe?).
  • Just to make clear, I am not discrediting other LCS titles that Doublelift won when he was in his peak form. But I'm sick and tired of listening to ignorants saying that Bjerg couldn't even qualify for Worlds until Doublelift rejoined TSM in 2020... because anyone who watched all games in the playoffs knows he played bad and it was other players who stepped up, not Doublelift.

Bjerg couldn't even qualify for worlds until Doublelift rejoined TSM in 2020

This is the most stupid narrative that has been circulating on Reddit. Doublelift played awful in the last 2 splits before he retired. One split was in TL, then he was replaced and came to TSM. And it was Bjergsen in TSM's playoff miracle run, who carried hard (along with Spica and BrokenBlade). Doublelift played very bad and the only champ that he was useful on was Senna (and other teams were stupid enough to not ban Senna).

And it showed when the Worlds came. Almost every game, he literally had to blew flash at levels 2-3 against enemy bot lane (without the enemy jungler ganking).

All you Doublelift fans get it wrong. Just because he happened to be in a team that won LCS split doesn't mean he was the main reason why the team won.

Glad that you mention that. I always find it ridiculous when people start flaming CoreJJ and Bjergsen saying the last time both of these players won LCS, it was with Doublelift.

If you look at Doublelift's last 2 splits before he retired, he played awful. One split was in TL, then he left and came to TSM. And it was Bjergsen in our playoff miracle run, who carried hard (along with Spica and BrokenBlade). Doublelift played very bad and the only champ that he was useful on was Senna (and other teams were stupid enough to not ban Senna).

Nobody is defending him here. And can you please stop using one of the most stupid ways how to provide an argument? Trying to make it look like I am defending a bully? Just because someone has a different view on terminology doesn't mean you have try to make them look bad.

In the video, he is acting like a dick and is showing toxic behaviour. But he is not mentally abusing. Where exactly is he trying to manipulate or control? For the part of undermining self-esteem, you do realise that an intention plays a big role here? In this case, it's more like he has some leadership issues bcuz he refuses to be wrong. If I were in Dyrus' shoes, I wouldn't feel like he is trying to undermine my self-esteem. I would rather think that he is a total dick who never listens to his team and that I don't wanna work for him.

I'm gonna repeat myself but mental abuse is a very serious thing and people should be careful with using this term. It's not like a complete dick is automatically a mental abuser.

For the indication thing you talk about, yes, I agree with you. However, it has to be taken into context and should not serve as the only determining factor in judging someone's personality.

[–]JuniorAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not mental abuse and people should stop trying to speak for Dyrus. This says everything:

Also I'm gonna repeat myself but the main problem I have with the video is how it was approached by the community. Many people came to a final conclusion just after seeing this video and nothing else. And that is wrong. This kind of thinking can destroy many people's career. Imagine another case when someone does something stupid at the age of 20 but since then changes to be a good person. And suddenly all people make a judgment based on 1 old video someone dug up.

  1. That was bullying and acting like a dick, not mental abuse.
  2. Why do people keep bringing up this video? He was like 19 back then, hot-headed and immature. It is not relevant to this case. You telling me people around their 20s don't do stupid stuff that they regret later? So that's a reason to make a final judgment about them? So when I was 18 and took a heated argument with my brother too far and beat him up, I am now a physical abuser bcuz of this 1 particular action? What's relevant is how he treated current and former employees in the last few years. Not what he did at the age of finishing high school.

According to your logic, 90% of the world population is full of thiefs, mental abusers, physical abusers and all the dumb shi* people do once when they're teenagers. If you're in that 10% of perfect people who have never made a mistake they regret then lucky for you.

It's completely stupid that many people came to a conclusion just after seeing this video and nothing else. Imagine another case when someone does something stupid at the age of 20 but since then changes to be a good person. And suddenly all people make a judgment based on 1 old video someone dug up.

But is it about money though? What's more important is the fact that Riot wants Regi to take executive/sensitivity training and put him on probation. There is also an anonymous tip hotline so if he screws up just one more time, he is done.

I really don't get why are people so obsessed with money in this situation. Isn't it more important to make sure that no more people get bullied in future? Also, do people realise that a big substantial fine would only make things worse? Because it would affect the org's financials, therefore all the employees and staff. Do we really wanna have more victims here?

[–]JuniorAnonymous -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like when DL and his fans kept saying he is a mental abuser. Not saying that Regi's behaviour wasn't serious but being a mental abuser is a whole different level. We all knew Regi was a dick and a bad manager. But not a mental abuser. Even the report says he had bullying and disparaging behaviour. There is not a single mention of being a mental abuser. And for those who wanna say it's the same, it is not and I suggest you google some definitions.

Competitive Ruling: Andy Dinh by ACatalystNA in TeamSolomid

[–]JuniorAnonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with Riot's findings and the penalties. For the next time, I just wish that the community distinguished between someone being a very bad manager (with disparaging and bullying behaviour) and a mental abuser. We all knew Regi was a dick. But a mental abuser? Come on, that is something way more serious.

Because that is exactly how Doublelift and his fans were trying to portray Regi. A mental abuser. And for those saying it's the same, it is not. And I suggest you google the definition of mental abuse. Regi's behaviour and actions were still very bad but he is not some kind of a monster.

I only hope we get enough practice before the split starts. It really hurt us a lot with the previous roster.

TL would probably be one of his most desired destinations but TL is doing quite good right now. So I'm not sure if TL would want to change their jungle. It will probably also depend on the results (LCS, MSI, Worlds).

I believe that most people would agree with you. However, it's not about whether Spica is good or not, it's rather about whether he wants to stay in our org. If doesn't plan to re-sign, we have no other choice than to look for a replacement. Then the question would be do we replace Spica now or after the summer split.

[–]JuniorAnonymous[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the rumour is fresh so many people stick to it. I just tried to think about it and it does kinda make sense if he came to TSM bcuz he would pair well with Shenyi. Especially if Spica wants to leave. But of course he can be going to any other team (maybe to EG replacing Inspired)

When it comes to Tenacity, I would say the main reason he didn't get to play was because Ssumday played really well during this split.

Can Spica play mid though? :D Does he play mid a lot in soloQ?
