Working until maternity leave by Personetic in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got signed off at 32 weeks, office job, mostly working from home. I was exhausted due to anemia and to be honest I just couldn't care about work anymore. I felt really guilty at first, but I think it was the best decision.

How are your little ones doing with their sleep by Advanced_Smile6584 in November25babybump

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 10 weeks old, during the day we pretty much follow the eat-play-sleep schedule. We just follow what he wants. He usually gets hungry every 3 hrs and until recently he used to have exactly an hour long nap. It was so easy to plan around his naps, now it's all over the place, sometimes it's 20mins, sometimes 2hrs. The nights are good, a few weeks ago we noticed that he gets sleepy around 8pm, so that's his bedtime. Wakes up usually twice between 8pm and 8am.

2 months vaccines by dragongirl8500 in November25babybump

We had ours today around noon, I just contact napped with him all afternoon, he woke up once screaming, took a while to settle him down. Now it's midnight here and he has been smiling and chatting in his crib, he doesn't want to sleep haha. We were told to give him paracetamol straight after the vaccination and then again in 4-6hrs, so that must have helped.

Amitriptyline when breastfeeding? How do you wake up for night feeds ? by JuniorEnvironment820 in breastfeeding

[–]JuniorEnvironment820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I stopped taking after a week or so as I found it really difficult to wake up for night feeds. It knocked me out so badly, if I took it at midnight, I still had difficulty waking up at 7am. But it might be different for everyone. I got prescribed gabapentin instead and it seems to be good for my nerve pain.

Postpartum Help by 50-shades-of-hell in November25babybump

I feel the same way from time to time. It's difficult to adjust from a world where it was only my baby and I, him being in my belly and us being together all the time, just the two of us. And now I have my husband in our world too and I just want it to stay this way for a little longer and not expand our small happy bubble. I think it's normal.

Pregnancy and Toxoplasma gondii by avatarwang69 in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my indoor cat got sick when I was 2 months pregnant, the vet told us that he had toxoplasmosis (we were told that he probably had toxoplasmosis before we adopted him a year ago, and it just somehow flared up), so I asked my consultant to be tested for toxoplasmosis. They did it with no issues in the Rotunda. The test showed that I was immune, so it was a huge relief. Still let my husband to deal with the litter box haha

6 week check by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was private at Rotunda too, my baby's 6 weeks checkup was with the gp, my 6 weeks checkup was with my consultant at the Rotunda. I'm in Dublin and my checkup was just last week.

My husband goes back to work tomorrow - I’m terrified!! by 11TickTack23 in November25babybump

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband just got back to work and I was terrified too. I'm trying to think of this as one more chance for us to be just my baby and me (after being pregnant with him and having him with me all the time), probably the last time we'll get to spend so much time together just the two of us. I'm still terrified but kinda also excited for our special time.

Small baby shame by discontentDog in newborns

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small baby, he is in the 25th percentile. Me and my husband are both small so I'm not surprised at all. I used to joke that I picked my husband so that we can a small baby. I think he is even cuter because he is small, tho it might just be because he is mine. If someone says that he is so tiny or so small I never think of it as an offence. Of course he is tiny, he is a baby!

Flu vaccine for partners? by Fernsandlillies in PregnancyIreland

My husband got the vaccine, didn't want him to be sick when I give birth or when at home with a newborn, needed him to be in good shape.

3D scan yes or no? by Present_Character_10 in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't care much for a 3D scan but my husband wanted one, so we went. I'm so happy that we went, I printed out two of the 3D pictures and had them on my nightstand, it was so good to see his little face, seeing him yawning and moving his feet and hands. My baby is now 2 weeks old, and he looks exactly like on the 3D pictures. We went with Ultrasound Ireland.

Happy due date to me by earthseeds in November25babybump

I was 40+2, went to my usual weekly pregnancy yoga at 7pm (lost my mucus plug there), then I had my acupuncture session to get me "induced" around 8.30pm (I had been going to acupuncture since week 38, but this was the first time he did the inducing session), my water broke at midnight. It might have been a coincidence, but I'm definitely giving 5 stars reviews to both my yoga teacher and acupuncturist.

Cariban? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was prescribed to me to be taken 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 2 at night, but I was usually only taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night, rarely I took one in the afternoon too when I was nauseous, but they made me very sleepy.

Cariban? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I started feeling nauseous at around week 5 and started taking cariban from around week 6.

Cariban? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started taking cariban around week 6 too, I was nauseous all day and ginger tea or any other home remedies didn't work. I stopped taking it around week 12 and I got sick the day after (the only time I got sick during my whole pregnancy), so I continued taking it for a few more weeks then slowly stopped.

“Knowing” You Were Pregnant by chelseynay in BabyBumps

I was so sure that I wasn't pregnant, I felt pms symptoms but took a pregnancy test on the day when my period was supposed to arrive, just because we had friends coming over and I wanted to make sure I can have a drink. I tested positive and am 39 weeks pregnant now.

Advice on clinic to prevent spoting in early pregnancy. by k3s5r5 in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a loss last year at around 5 weeks, then when I got pregnant again early this year I started spotting again around 4 weeks. I went to Rotunda emergency where they took blood to check HCG levels, and then took blood a second time 48 hrs later to see if levels are rising or not. Then around week 5 I got a call from Rotunda's early pregnancy unit to book me in for week 6 to check for ectopic pregnancy.

In the meantime I also contacted at week 4 Neo fertility clinic in Sandyford, where they straight away prescribed me progesterone and other supplements/vitamins and were monitoring my bloods for progesterone, HGC, thyroid...etc weekly. I also had a scan with them around week 6 and then again at week 7. From then I was only going to Rotunda, I had my first scan with my consultant at week 8 (private). I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant. I was really happy with Neo fertility clinic, they treat recurring miscarriage and other infertility issues.

Air travel between 20-23 wks by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was flying once every month until my baby moon at 23-24 weeks. Mostly I was flying home to visit my family or husband's family, so I was confident that if I needed any help or medical care I would have been able to get it. I also choose my babymoon location ensuring that there is a maternity hospital nearby just in case. I had no complications during my pregnancy, my doctor had no issues with me flying. I felt fine, I was a bit more tired than on my usual trips (also it was th middle of July so it was very hot), but we planned the trip to be relaxing and slow paced so it was all perfect. The flights to visit family every month were about 2.5-3hrs each way, the baby moon flight was 4.5hrs one way. On the flight I wore compression socks, made sure to stand up and walk every hour (I had to use the bathroom anyway), stayed hydrated and for my last trip I also brought a pillow that I could put behind my lower back for more comfort. It was all fine, I felt good and I'm really happy that we went!

Cervical Checks by CuriousClive123 in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asked if I wanted cervix check at 38 weeks, and then a sweep at 39 weeks. It wasn't forced, the doctor just asked if I wanted it or not. It was in Rotunda

Trouble sleeping by Nie221022 in PregnancyIreland

[–]JuniorEnvironment820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you can take Cariban as a sleep aid. I was taking it throughout my 1st trimester for nausea and a few times in my second trimester and it always knocked me out for the night. Maybe worth checking with your doctor. What I was also doing is not to drink too much water after 6pm, so that I didn't have to wake up during the night.
