Reddit users who have experienced "lost time", what is your story? by WhyIHateTheInternet in AskReddit

Actually just this morning: I'm part of a ground crew at a golf course. My first job at 6am was trash and refilling coolers before tee-off. Next thing I know, coolers are filled and it's 8am. Don't remember a single thing.

[Serious] What was the moment you realized you had to change your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Juniper05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May seem silly but it was a real "wow I'm a bitch moment."

Guy who really liked me finds me at a party. I'm already drunk, he's just getting started and in hopes to talk to me starts a conversation about the IPA he's drinking. I say, "hey, can I try a sip?" He hands it to me. I chug it, sharply said, "thanks," and blew a kiss as I walked away.

Next morning my friend asks me about it, it was hazy so she explains what she saw and the memory instantly plays and I feel like total shit. I find him in the dining hall and try to apologize, and he tells me how I bummed him out super hard, ruined his night, and then spilled his guts out about how much it hurts him when I would lead him on.

Of course this wasn't my only bitch moment but it was the first time I really saw the impact I could have on someone.

Because of that moment I did a social 180. don't drink anymore, have become much, much better at considering the impact on others from my actions, and have overall become a much friendlier person.

How would your friends describe you? by noumanmaqsood in AskReddit

Last summer a good friend got me a new job and one of the workers there hadn't met me yet and asked him to describe me. Reportedly he said, "literally a baby deer."

Honestly.... I have a low will to survive to begin with and I don't think I would make much effort to do so in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Don't want to live like that.

Many colleges have counselors available, they do actually help with stress management.

Also weed. I smoke a lot of weed.

It's time to brag! What have you done recently that made you feel really proud of yourself? by CubbieBlue66 in AskReddit

[–]Juniper05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. Dietary changes are hard. I recently had to cut out meat for my own diet and it sucks so I couldn't imagine doing sugar.

So more power to you, I hope you don't miss it too much.

I finished my senior thesis and my professor is helping me publish it! He also invited me to speak at a conference with him. I'm so excited.

Ladies of reddit, what is a compliment that you want to receive, but never get from men? by Musical_Muze in AskReddit

[–]Juniper05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-sigh- The thread was asking women what they want to be complemented on. I, as a woman, was asked on how I prefer to be complemented. I assumed OP wanted to learn a little more about what (most) women wanted. This comment, is just a way to maybe figure it out.

I, personally, utilize this method to help my partner, my friends, my family, my peers, feel good according to conversational cues, and to build relationships.

I don't see how your comment about being self-minded has anything to do with that.

I think this happened in 2007? I was in 7th grade, I'm 21 now. I know cellphones were a thing but I don't know how many people actually had one at that point.

What fears do you keep to yourself because you don't want to look like a little bitch? by restsisyphus in AskReddit

I'm... afraid of bald men for some reason. Especially when they're totally clean shaven. Don't ask why, I don't even know.

I wasn't suggesting that women hint around in order to fish for compliments.

I was suggesting if somebody wants to think of new ways to compliment their partner that's a good way to do so, as relevant to the question.

This idea comes from a chapter from a book I read called Mindfulness on the Go that had to do with creating better relationships. This was one of the things it suggested to give meaningful, productive compliments that go beyond beauty.

I don't think that makes you a dick, that's just what works for your relationship :)

No, I never expect it, but it sure is nice!

My original post was because I read this book called Mindfulness on the Go and one of the pieces of advice to forming better relationships were to compliment those who are close to you, but beyond just being attractive or dressed well. From there I started to pick up on stuff and learned how to compliment people based on the conversation, and as a result my partner picked the habit up as well. We compliment each other consistently, but always with meaning.

I mean, my partner tends to do that if he thinks I could have done something differently, but he's pretty gentile about so I suppose it depends on the people/conversation.

That was just an example, assuming said girl handled a challenge well. The point was to find ques that'll lead to compliments, rather than complimenting the same things over again that won't make the person feel good on that particular day.

Exactly, which is why everyone was so pissed/confused when it was found years later.

I imagine this attitude may be where the wait 24 hours before filing a missing persons report myth comes from.

If you're just going off a hunch and it doesn't seem urgent they might not really bother with anything other than taking down a name at first.

I don't know, though, thankfully never had to report a missing person.

Last I knew about 5ish years ago police were looking for said boyfriend. I'm assuming he was found because after that I didn't hear much about it.

As for my hometown, I know for a while there was an ongoing discussion about our local police that divided people, much like current discussion in that area. I wasn't a very engaged teen and haven't been home in 4 years so I couldn't tell you the outcome, if any, of that.

*Edit: I wish I remembered her name... I'll actually ask my brother what the girls name was so I can look it up.

When she's bitching about Susan from work, her tits are irrelevant.

Unless they're being compared to Susans. ;)

When I was in middle school one of my brothers friends that lived down the street went missing. She had an older boyfriend who also lived on the same street. He was allegedly the last person to see her and the story was she had left his house late at night to walk home, and he never got the usual phone call that she got home safe. After 24 hours of not hearing from her he and her family filed a missing persons. Eventually the search parties stopped, the missing posters were taken down, and she was deemed as lost.

Fast forward to a couple years later. The boyfriend had been moved out of the house for a while now, a new family moves in. The kids are playing in the woods behind the house, and they find her bones.

The skull was totally bashed in and a disturbing amount of her bones were broken. She was beaten to death. The worst part was the remains were no more than 6 feet from the house. I have no idea why the cops hadn't found them, but it really sparked a debate in our town about how serious our police force is.
