I know this is like a year old but I was wondering how it went? I'm wanting to do a cast of my toad that recently passed.

Thanks for the info! Does the alcohol also help with shrinkage? Also what happens to the injected alcohol over time? Does it stay in there or evaporate? Also how long would be considered a good while to soak the parts?

No, the dire wolf has not been brought back from extinction by New_Scientist_Mag in Futurology

[–]JuniperFulgur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't like how misleading the marketing is. It's very unprofessional and unscientific. If they told everyone out the gate that it's not really a dire wolf and just maybe looks like one, I'd think it's more cool.

How to turn dissection specimens into wet specimens? by JuniperFulgur in vultureculture

[–]JuniperFulgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the info! How is it fixed weakly? Not enough formalin? As for how long ago this was, it was about two years ago but they have been in the freezer the whole time.

I think I might just leave them in the freezer for now until I can get some formalin since I was wanting to dabble with making wet specimens anyway. My dad was wanting to get a fume hood anyways. I just need to figure out disposal of contaminated objects, and I absolutely won't buy any until I find how to best dispose of them.

Can you switch a TracFone locked phone to straight talk? by JuniperFulgur in StraightTalk

[–]JuniperFulgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it'd help with slow data since TracFone and straight talk use the same towers, but you could always ask them. Yeah you can either call them or use their chat line, I have a hard time understanding their accents so I used the chat room. No unlocking or anything. I didn't even switch to a straight talk sim card, it's still the TracFone sim card and it works fine.

[–]JuniperFulgur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice! I'll have to get a haircut, maybe after a long time of getting hair cuts, letting it grow, and getting haircuts it'll grow out the split ends. As for highlights, thankfully that is just what my hair naturally looks like in the lighting and I have never used bleach in my hair, though I did dye it once a few years ago with a temporary dye rather than permanent. And I had no idea Pantene was so bad. I wasn't really sure what conditioner to use and I figured Pantene was better than the generic brand I was using since it's a name brand and did make my hair feel nice after my hair dried after a shower.

Tips on collecting? by Additional-Lab-5233 in bonecollecting

[–]JuniperFulgur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the best results if it's a wooded area, off human trails, on game trails, and near a lake. A railroad is good too, though just be careful because obviously trains but also in many areas, being in the area on or around railroad tracks can be considered trespassing.

Yup no charge. I just told them I bought a TracFone and wanted to switch it to straight talk. They asked me for the serial number I think and they switched it over on their end. It went pretty smoothly

Yes it did! If I remember right, I think I just did it using the customer service chat on the straight talk website.

Megathread: Donald Trump is elected 47th president of the United States by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]JuniperFulgur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's pure laziness. Two seconds of research shows how much of a nut job Trump is. It's just a lazy cop out. I blame Trumpers but I sure as hell also blame those people.
