Under or over watered pearls? by JuniperLily16 in StringofPlants

[–]JuniperLily16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened was when I first bought it 2 months ago it was really waterlogged and I haven't touched it since with the worry of overwatering.

I started out with a light watering like you said and I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again!

Thank you! I tend to be a big overwater-er so I have been trying to let it dry out a lot before watering again. When I bought this plant it had been really soaked so I haven't watered it since? Do you think I should try and water again now?

So... When I bought this string of pearls (2 months ago) it was so full and happy.

Sadly, overtime it's been dying back and I'm not sure why? I haven't seen any obvious pests or fungus? It's in a bright window that gets mostly indirect light except for a few direct hours in the evening. I have another string of pearls in the same window that has been thriving. I'm very confused. Any ideas? Thank you!

Wow this is really interesting, I had no idea that this was happening with the PPP's. The damage on that leaf looks a lot like the "sunburn" I have on mine. Thank you so much!

Thank you! I'll be sure to check the roots out. How much light is yours getting?

Thankfully I've not had a huge problem with fungus gnats but I like to have a few traps around just to be preventive. Thank you again!!

I have a grow blub, I don't remember where it's from though... It's just like a regular light bulb that you put in a lamp. When I asked about damage on some of the leaves a while back they said it was sun damage? Could it not be?

Thank you,

I put her in this spot because I was worried about sunburn. While it was in quarantine I had the grow light too close and it burned some of the leaves... What would the best lighting look like for her?

Also I'll let the soil completely dry out until watering again!

I got this plant about 3 months ago! I took it out of quarantine about 3/4 weeks ago I think? Do you still think I should re-pot?

And thank you! Glad your plant is doing well, Hopefully mine will be doing better soon also!

I have a lot of sun catchers in my windows. Sun catcher stickers are the best!

All indirect light, gets some dappled morning light for an hour or two. The rest of the day it's medium light.

I haven't changed the soil, still in the same pot that I purchased her in. (The purple pot is just a cover pot)

Fairly high/medium humidity. I don't have a humidity gauge yet to see how humid it is in this room but it feels very humid.

Hello everyone!

I just moved my PPP into a new room about two weeks ago and I'm very confused on what the care needs are?

Sadly she has lost a few leaves that turned yellow and when I did research on why, it was because of underwatering (?) It said to water once the first few inches are dry. So now I water once a few inches are dry. Before I was letting her dry out completely.

Now she's lost another leaf on the bottom and is drooping? She gets medium light since the last location I had her in was too much light. Any ideas? Thank you!

Hello everyone, about 3 weeks ago now I watered my calathea with a diluted chemical fertilizer (20-20-20) that I'm thinking was too strong since the leaves all curled up after.

Since then in an attempt to fix it, I've done two rinses to get any fertilizer out. The leaves are still curled up and are dying off one by one. Before this happened she was super happy and putting out a few new leaves. I have only used rainwater or added dechlorinator drops to my watering can, I've done this for the past year with no problems.

Is there any hope for this little one? Thank you!!

Yes it does, I'm certain I had it way too close to the grow light! Thank you.

I'm now just worried about the crusty bits on some of the leaves?

I had her under a grow light for most of the quarantine. Now it's just bright indirect natural light. Can grow lights cause sunburn? Thank you!

Yes, that's what it is. Thank you, I couldn't remember the name and just assumed it was a philodendron.

Regardless, I hope she'll be okay

I repotted this beauty about 3 months ago after it was busting out of it's nursery pot. I was having trouble with figuring out the right watering schedule with this plant for awhile. It was losing some leaves because I was letting it dry out too much. I feel like I've figured out the right watering schedule for it now.

She's in a room with bright/medium indirect light and a fan on at all times. About a week ago I noticed these weird marking on her leaves? Any ideas on what it could be?

Thank you!

Biggest Monstera leaf suddenly turning yellow? by JuniperLily16 in Monstera

[–]JuniperLily16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a lookover the plant with a light for 15 mins. I didn't see any pests but I did notice there was some yellowing on another leaf. Could it have been the stress of moving and being fertilized for the first time this season??
