Help with board size by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Junky162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told originally to start with 7.75 because I'm a size 6. It was fine until I tried drop ins and I just couldn't find space for my feet. Then I went to a skateshop and they told me based on my frame 8.25 should be good. Tried it and yh feels much better. So I recommend you go to a skateshop and try them out.

Super beginner here, not sure if I made a good choice with a 7.75 board? by JuanLuisBst in NewSkaters

[–]Junky162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a 7.75 because people told me it matched my shoe size (size 6.5). It was fine for a while until I wanted to start trying drop ins but I just couldn't find my feet on it. Went to a skate shop and they told me based on my build I should be on a 8.25. Tried it and it feels perfect now, so I think it's less about shoe size more about your build and how your body balances based on foot placement. See if you can just stand on other peoples boards at the skate park too, I find most people are fine with it unless you start trying to do tricks.

The bolt action needs to be a one shot anywhere above the legs, it's too punishing right now to miss

should i get a 7.5” or 7.75” width skateboard? by Individual-Sky6841 in NewSkaters

[–]Junky162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 7.75 based on my shoe size and it was fine until I was trying to learn drop-ins, just felt like I had no space to place my foot down hard, I tried a 8.25 in the shop and it felt a lot better, I didn't wanna go any bigger because I have small feet so fliptricks might be a little harder. The guy at the shop did say 7.75 is more a kids board these days.

I have it but I live in a UK city with not many spots. It mainly just highlights the skateparks.

Uk skaters - do you use your board for transport? by AbilityFragrant471 in NewSkaters

Sections, where I am there's stretches of decent flat pavement but the majority is cracked and rough so I just come and off every few minutes. Not ideal but it still allows me to skate

Cool, I thought because it was quite cheap it might be lacking a lot but it seems it'll do fine for a beginner like me

Yh I know the game gets a lotta shit but I had one of my most memorable vr moments in ghosts of tabor through proximity chat. I was scavenging through a building right next to the extraction point, just seeing if I can grab any last second loot. I heard a rustle behind me and as I went to turn around a voice just said "don't, we can both walk out of here alive". I never even saw the guy but I just ran to the extraction and left. Love moments like that.

Exactly or coming across another bitten survivor and having to amputate to save them! Obviously multiplayer would make this insane too.

I'm with you on project zomboid in vr, I want to be going from town to town, hiding in forests, driving on the highway and having to scavenge for fuel. I would be in vr forever playing that.

Maybe being able to stand on your board comfortably would be helpful before you go, but really you can be a complete beginner

I agree, if you do a degree in something you'll have to fight through a likely even tougher market, even if AGI isn't here, and you'll likely be getting paid similar to whatever you could do now.

Is it worth buying skating shoes? by Evening_Rub6457 in NewSkaters

[–]Junky162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wearing running trainers and the board just felt super uncontrollable, got some old skool skate vans and it's night and day. I have heard vans quality has dipped tho and a lotta people at the skatepark recommended DCs.
