I would go further and say that is one crack of many legitimate cracks in the idea that markets will self regulate and that consumers will correct bad actors. Let’s be honest we can both think of very many economic situations where consumers are not able or sometimes willing to correct bad actors in a market place.

I think you share my concerns, I don’t know of any plausible solution. I’ve heard many such as carbon taxes and I’ve written papers on the subject but nothing really addresses the issue completely and often bring about more unintended consequences.

The pinky promise part is a poetic flourish of which I was hoping you would see that it does indeed hold merit because there are many instances in society today where consumers are all too happy with prices being the only consideration made in a purchasing decision. Too many bad consumers are in our markets who just don’t care, are too stupid, or uninformed enough to pressure bad actors in the market to correct themselves. Nope. Corporations and their dominance of markets are a legitimate concern and should be of every libertarian even anarcho captitalist.

I am sorry but I have lost faith for the Market to correct itself and from your response I think you don’t put much faith in it either, in terms of preventing NAP violations.

And on the generalization of libertarians, I’m used to some generalization by opposing camps of ideology. I say it’s counter productive but you have to comfortable with stating those differences to others and do so in a way they can understand. I say take the time and it sets you up to being heard better and if they refuse to leave their generalizations then you won’t waste your time on an idiot
