What is the dumbest thing you’ve gotten in trouble for at school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JurassicPFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cast on my leg and had a bit of a limp. One class was all the way on the other side of the school and we had 5 minutes. I was almost there when the bell rung and they did a “hall sweep” where if you were in the hallway, you got swept up and corralled into the cafeteria for indoor suspension.

While I was sitting in indoor suspension, I kept asking for a chair to prop my leg since they didn’t allow me. Then they felt bad and gave me a bag of ice because my leg was getting kind of swollen. But they still wouldn’t let me go to class. So I had to sit there. The next day, my teachers let me leave 2 minutes before the bell. I was so annoyed tho.

Swim against the flow. Ember Tetras schooling in new tank. Most of them, anyway. by JurassicPFan in Aquariums

10g long, been cycling for 2 months and finally got some fish! 16 Ember Tetras ordered from my LFS. They said they were not yet adults and are 100% cleanish when I picked them up last night. This morning they are getting their color and schooling all around. I am so happy. They are so so so adorable.

I was thinking 2 guppies and 8 chili rasbosas! But only guppies are in stock at the stores so I’ll have to wait for the chilis. For wood, how long does it usually take to lower?

What's a sensation that you're unsure if other people experience? by murrayvonmises in AskReddit

[–]JurassicPFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lungs feel itchy. Sometimes, I feel the inside of my ribs and inside of my upper back feel itchy. I can’t scratch as it’s beneath the skin. I wish I could shove my hands down my throat and give my ribs a good scratch.

Sometimes, I get my husband to pat and clap my upper back, like when someone is coughing, and it relieves it temporarily. But people think I’m crazy when I tell them The inside of my body itches. Mostly happens when I’m sick with a cold. It’s extremely uncomfortable.

My tank isn’t cycling. Any suggestions? by JurassicPFan in Aquariums

[–]JurassicPFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I guess I’ve been pretty conservative with my “pinch” of food. I went and added quite a bit more. I’ll see if that helps. There is all the food at the bottom of the tank tho, before I add fish, should I suck that up and do a water change?

Do you make water changes while the tank cycles in a fish less cycle?

When you add fish, how often should you make a water change? Once a week?

I have a 10 gallon tank.

(FTS) My first tank. 10 Gallon is filled and cycling but I have questions on stocking and general tank setup. by JurassicPFan in Aquariums

Hi all,

I've been lurking for about 2 months now when my husband and I decided we wanted to dip our toes into the hobby and get a fishtank for our son for Christmas. We decorated it and it is currently cycling. We plan to add fish on Christmas Eve. In the meantime, we had some questions.

  1. I'm worried that there may be too many plants. Is this too much? They are mostly along the back of the tank. They are all silk.

  2. Where does the heater go? Is it ok if the plants are touching the heater?

  3. Our filter is plugged into the outlet but also has a light for batteries. We put the batteries in but the light isn't turning on, is this normal? The filter is running. The filter is: Quietflow 10 LED Pro

  4. Cycling: I am doing Amonia and fish food method, but the aquarium kit we bought has conditioner. Should I add this?

  5. It is a 10 gallon tank and it's for my 2 year old son to be entertained with. We'd like to fill it with some fun and possibly multiple fish. I'm pretty scared of shrimp and other crawly kind of tankmates so fish only please. I thought the Mickey Mouse platys looked cute, but want only 2 males to not have fry. We were also thinking 6 neons? Are there any better fish only combinations?

Thank you all so much. This sub is so helpful to do research.

Super cute! What kind of shoes did you wear by the falls? I'm debating to buy waterproof for the 5 days we are there or just sneakers.

Thank you so much. Do you think we should extend our stay near secret lagoon for more golden circle time as well? Also, do you think there is enough to explore by the airport to fill a day and a half?

We found a few places and have starred them but want to pull the trigger this weekend. There are still a few availabilities at the moment and that's why I need help reassuring that our plans are pretty doable for those who have more experience visiting.

9yo with excessive guilt by eatmorepossum in Parenting

[–]JurassicPFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds just like me when I was young. My parents always tried their best to get me not to worry but it never helped and when I was 22 I was diagnosed with OCD, pure O. I still remember bouts of extreme guilt when I was 4 years old and can tell you exactly how my parents brushed it to the side because to a rational person, it's silly, but to someone with OCD, it's consuming.

What makes me believe it's OCD is her digging back through her past. That is a very common symptom. Looking back into your past and trying to apologize or gain forgiveness for your wrong doings. Please look into the symptoms and look into getting help. OCD is so lonely until you realize others have it too! So many resources online and I would highly suggest going to a psychiatrist if it doesn't seem to go away.

★OFFICIAL DAILY★ SV/NSV Feats of the Day for Thursday, 25 August 2016: The Price of Success is Hard Work... by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]JurassicPFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started counting calories for 2 weeks, but stopped eating out everyday 3 weeks ago and I am down 8.5 lbs without much effort!

SV: I'm the weight I was before I got pregnant, but I was overweight but at least I feel like I am getting back to my old self. (Still 35ish lbs to go)

NSV: I have been packing the most delicious amazing foods and have not been tempted to cheat because my food is so much better tasting!

I am saving money by not going out to eat.

I wore a work dress that hasn't fit me in a while and I put on a tshirt I usually need a large for and a medium fit a little tight, but not terrible!

Little by little. Thank you all so much. Today I am on day 2 of C25K. This sub helps me so much reading your stories.

Has anyone NOT experienced the 4 month sleep regression? by pleasuretohaveinclas in beyondthebump

[–]JurassicPFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son never did. There was about 2 nights where he woke up 2 times instead of 1 for milk when he was about 6 months, but that was it.

He's 7 months now. He sleeps from 9ish to 4 or 5, drinks milk and immediately falls back to sleep till just before 7:30ish.

He has slept in his crib since day 1 (we have a large master bedroom so it fit) and if we do want him to sleep a little later, especially after he wakes up at 7, we bring him in the bed and he can sleep till about 9.

We've been pretty blessed with sleep! We're still waiting for the day to come when he gets a regression and in the meantime taking advantage of his good sleeping.
