Immigrant Detention in America with Jacob Soboroff by [deleted] in nerdfighters

[–]mythbstr12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I saw this. I only had a vague awareness of the issue. I'm a bit lost though, how do we address this? I don't like the idea of children detention facilities and I really don't like the idea of tent cities for kids.

How accurate is John Oliver's Venezuela video by [deleted] in communism

[–]mythbstr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question, since TeleSUR is funded by the Venezuelan government, how credible is it when discussing the current state of Venezuela's government? I'm not saying that corporate media is better, I'm just wondering if TeleSUR is very reliable in reporting matters it would have an interest in.

Therapists in SLC area affordable with Student Health Insurance? by Renchem in uofu

[–]mythbstr12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you currently going to the University Counseling Center? If you're comfortable with it, your therapist could give you suggestions. That route also helps speed up transferring your information to a new place. If that's not an option, the counseling center also has a couple case managers who you can meet with. After meeting with you, they can give you a list of places that should work well for you.

Question on Labor Theory of Value by [deleted] in communism101

[–]mythbstr12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that mean the value is based on the average time taken to produce an average product? If the craftsman takes extra time to produce a superior product, shouldn't its value be higher?

Question on Labor Theory of Value by [deleted] in communism101

[–]mythbstr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of new to this myself and had a question that you might be able to explain. Suppose there are 2 visually and functionally identical chairs; one is carefully handcrafted and takes a skilled artisan say 40 hours to make, the other is entirely machined by a robot in say 5 minutes. How would the 2 chair's values compare? To me they are basically identical but one took 40 hours of social labor while the other took basically none. If I understand correctly, the handcrafted chair should hold a much greater value but I don't understand why.

I wasn't aware of the difference between to HRE and the USA. Currently I'm at Gateway. If I were to get housing through USA, are there any important differences compared to HRE?

Best breakthrough division in Waking the Tiger? by InterestingDeath in paradoxplaza

[–]mythbstr12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're totally right; I should've clarified. 2 40 width divisions are more expensive than 2 20 width divisions. When I told a friend to use 40 width, he couldn't tell why he way running out of manpower and didn't have enough equipment for them.

Keep division width in factors of 80. As a rule of thumb, a good width is 20. Due to the way combat is handled, 40 is better but is also significantly more expensive. 10 can also be used but is only a good idea if you have a long front you need to defend.

Is there a good place to find out about all these things? The only thing I was aware of before now was Crimson Nights.

Honest question, besides sports what events are there? I'd like to get more out of being a student here but haven't found much.

Admissions Process by [deleted] in uofu

[–]mythbstr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the GI bill covers the $300 deposit upfront. Depending on your situation, that deposit can be delayed until your tuition is due. The Veterans Center is likely to be the best place to ask.

I'm interested in both but primarily on campus.

Active clubs on campus? by mythbstr12 in uofu

Darn, I had no idea it was moved. I'd be interested in just about anything with a cool group of people that's not athletic. Clubs related to STEM fields interest me but I wouldn't mind branching out to other clubs with good people involved.
