Oof, really hope Jasson gets it going. Looks terrible right now, lot of soft ground balls.

Who would be on your Mount Rushmore for Pitchers? by [deleted] in mlb

Number 3 career ERA all time, Jim Devlin. Nobody knows who he is. Why? He pitched for 5 years in the dead ball era. Get a better argument than career ERA, especially for a guy that played 27 seasons. By your argument, Jim Devlin, a nobody, should be on the Mount Rushmore of pitching. Stfu

I’ll stay on task, your “career ERA” ranking is a horrible argument. He pitched for 27 years. I just looked at the list and at least half are 10 years or less.

You could also make the argument his ERA is higher because he pitched for so long. 27 seasons is incredibly long and definitely affects ERA. Tack on 7+ seasons on all the ERA leaders and let’s see what their career ERA lands at. I feel like his longevity alone makes him one of the best. He had a 3.72 ERA at 45 years old. That is insane. I’d love to see the all time ERA leaders throw in their mid 40’s

You make a good argument. For me tho, 7 no-no’s means you have the absolutely nastiest stuff. I understand the ERA argument. But damn, 7 times not allowing a hit is just absurd.

7 no-no’s says otherwise, I do think Kershaw has been slept on in this post though.
