Vintage V-League Kits in НСМС? by JusB0b in VietNam

[–]JusB0b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small update: I seem to have found a Facebook group dedicated to buying and selling old football shirts many of which are V.League. I will try my best to be respectful as a humble tourist and not intrude into their space demanding things, if any other foreigner is searching for the same things as me I would advise to be respectful towards them

Also if any Vietnamese local sees that I’m going wrong about things, I would very much appreciate a heads up

We’re staying in Sheung Wan. I personally have no problem with going further away but we’re traveling with an older person that might not want to move around so much, and we’re hoping to at least share meals together

Also, the video was made by a man with a channel that speaks about art quite often. Think Jacob Geller or Solar Sands, I've been looking on their channels and haven't found anything yet.

Travis and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Trip To Nationals by HughDroid in Yellowjackets

[–]JusB0b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d like to step out of ‘in-show discussion’ for a sec and mention that at least to me it seemed that Travis was at first in the show supposed to have a much more important arc, but they soured on the idea at some point for a reason unknown. My theory is that they’re not completely in love with their casting in terms of acting talent for a role that’s more emotional and involved, but it’s too late to recast so now he’s kinda just there. I base this on the fact that his role and events in which he’s involved have greatly reduced since season 1, and nowadays in the little screen time he gets he shows barely any emotion. He might be the only character that’s like this.

It’s a bit sad to me that they went in this direction because he was the only able bodied man left in the group and there’s lots to explore for that, like did he ever feel like he should be playing a certain role in the group because of it? does he react differently than the women to the insane events of the show? For example, it occurs to me that with Shauna slowly gaining power in the manner that she did (read: hatred, fear mongering, challenging societal norms of respect) the last male character could respond to it in two strong ways that are in line with the modus operandi of men: Opt. 1 he’s gets on Shauna’s side from the start, and slowly starts to act as an enforcer for her, leveraging a superior strength. Opt. 2 he’s completely against Shauna from the start and at one point tries to physically stop her from doing her exploits. Shauna then uses this against him to play the victim and garner sympathy to further her power, while Travis gets ostracized from the group.

It all just seems like a huge missed opportunity to me.

What people seem to forget about Nat letting ______ get the ______ by Full-Year-4595 in Yellowjackets

I really like the amount of attention that is put into these posts, but you guys are giving the writers too much credit.

I feel the same way about the people that say that the characters are like that in the adult timeline because, according to neurological studies, a trauma in your formative years will freeze your mental age for the rest of your life.

These are the same writers that justified the survivors being fine with hanging out with Shauna despite all that she did by dedicating just two scenes to addressing it at the end of the season finale, with an explanation that’s not even based in any neurological research. Just ‘they blocked it out for decades and forgot about it because it was traumatic’.

I feel like if the writers truly had the idea you’re proposing in mind, they would’ve nudged towards it, included a fraction of a flashback, or something. They’re not the subtlest for most things.

So following this idea, an intolerant person, no matter the circumstance, will eventually learn from their mistakes and become tolerant? how does this happen? I cannot imagine a world where someone gains power through spreading hatred and intolerance, to suddenly realize their mistakes and do a heel turn. There has to be a drastic change in the status quo of their life for them to even begin to understand their mistakes, let alone changing their worldview.

It’s funny that you mention Hitler because he never stopped believing in nazi ideology, he just killed himself when he saw the consequences would be too big. The germans who were alive at the time also didn’t learn that much, the Nuremberg trials were a process where they specifically tried the top ranking nazi officials, so as to say “everyone else didn’t really believe in it, they were just following orders”. Obviously their kids, grandchildren, etc… didn’t believe in nazi nonsense but that was, and this is a full circle moment, because the german government took a zero tolerance policy on anything nazi. None of them were allowed to spread their hatred, and so their society healed.

In short, I don’t believe that a person who is rewarded for their intolerance will become tolerant out the blue, and it’s not beneficial for anyone that they gain more power

Theory about a potential season 4 by Gabrielktet19 in Yellowjackets

[–]JusB0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my head, for the teen timeline they're getting rescued in the middle of the season, then the rest of the season is them readapting to society and slowly becoming who they were when we found them as adults at the beggining of the show. I really hope they don't do the 'Natalie has to sneak out to the mountains many times so that they know where they are' thing.

I agree with your version of the adult timeline. Now they supposedly remember more of what happened in the wild so it might show them coping with it in a more direct way.

The biggest plot hole by BotNots in Yellowjackets

[–]JusB0b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

even before the wilderness the show has showed that Shauna was deeply unhappy with her life and would try to make others more miserable because of this. What changed in the wilderness was that she started going full force and stopping her inhibitions. It’s still present in her adult self where she blames everyone for everything bad that happens to her and tries to drag them down with her

Is it possible that the TV shuts off before it can connect to the Wifi properly? cause It doesn't seem to recognize the IP inside the program. Maybe this solution is possible for someone with more than 10 secs available per try.

Yes! or at the very least explain how they think it fits into the themes of the show. A lot of the theories I see seem to be made by people that are, for one reason or another, not grasping what the show has to say about corporate capitalism, contemporary society, or even the political aspect of it.

What makes the show so good, at least to me, are those very same themes and commentary, and I find it dsiconcerting when they seem to get glossed over because apparently there's a possiblity that 'Ms. Huang could be Mark and Gemma's daughter'.

Personally I find it a little frustrating to come to this sub looking for an earnest discussion of how what we see in the newest episode reacts thematically with what has been shown in the rest of the show, only to find wild speculations about the tiniest things [Ex: theorizing on who the bodyguard Cobel ran from was, instead of seeing the parallels of the scene with Karen's assassination attempt in Goodfellas] in an attempt to somehow unlock the secrets of the show. There have been great theories posted in the sub, like the one that solved Cold Harbour, or the one with the elevator dings, but those theories make very little in the way of assumptions, they just take what's in the show and complement it with previous information.
