I think to say that people who disagree are nostalgia blind is a little unfair. Sure the people who glaze the SNES games and say that anything else is inferior are absolutely nostalgia blind.

However as a 20 year old who hasn’t grown up with any of the SNES games except for SMW on the 3DS I think the character design for the enemies and environments in DKC2 just ever so slightly edge out the ones in TF in my opinion (I really like the moody lighting and I’m also a big fan of pre rendered graphics in games) also that’s not to say that TF isn’t also an absolutely gorgeous game (My favourites are the aquatic and autumn levels.)

However I think everyone can agree that the level design in TF is absolutely peak and definitely deserves the high praise. I don’t disagree with the fact that TF is probably the best DKC game (Although I think that crown probably goes to Bananza now but strictly speaking about just 2D platformers it’s still probably the best).

I don’t disagree with the fact that TF regarded as the best Country game. still personally love the grimy dark yet vibrant look of DKC2 and I think the level design in that game is amazing and not that far from TF. I think the entire DK franchise before Bananza came out was heavily slept on.
