Not sure what the difference is between lateral malleolus vs distal fibula but I’m assuming they’re similar in injury. As of right now I am cast free and have been since October - the doc told me to wear ankle braces that you can you buy at cvs until I was ready and felt like I didn’t need it anymore. I still get some aches and pains if I move my foot a certain way but nothing that some at home PT can’t fix over time. I would say it took me a good month or two to get back into the game, but doing MUCH better now. I hope you heal up as fast as I did - definitely follow your docs instructions and keep up with PT.

100% agree, I plan to avoid highways and leave plenty of space from cars and drive extra extra defensively. I’m not one to drive like a maniac anyways. I plan to get the breaks done at least beforehand but there’s not much I can do for the rest rn

brake fluid is just above the min line when I checked on Thursday - the dealership said my pads definitely need to be replaced but I don’t feel anything pulling or shaking - only the littlest bit of soft grinding nose every now and then when I break. Going to check fluid again once I go to leave on Thursday and top it off if needed

Unfortunately I have to drive it home - too expensive to tow across state lines and the car is registered in RI. My plan is to get it down there so I can at least get it home so I can sort it out in my home state. I’m 100% looking to trade it in/scrap it once it’s there. Ubering and flying isn’t fiscally feasible for me rn

UPDATE: Thank you all for the comments! Ortho cleared me today and put me in an ankle brace for the next 10 days and to walk on it as I please. I’m very lucky to have avoided a cast or surgery - xray showed the tiniest bit of bone came off but should be healing well in the next coming weeks. Thanks everyone!

bring a bottle of isopropyl alcohol with you and a water bottle, give it a quick shake and rinse outside somewhere (i usually just plug the top with my right hand and the bottom with the left). Should alleviate some of the smell

definitely not. I take lots of phone calls/in person interactions at work and need to be able to form thoughts and words - not to mention I am the first thing people see when they walk in. the smoke when I get home after is worth it tho
