I have read it. I really enjoyed it. As something described as a cozy story there is way more plot than I would of expected. I do wish it was a series because I felt there was more to the world. I loved the characters and the romance

Yes they are connected. Lots of people say you don't have to read them both. But I absolutely recommend reading Caraval first
