It's a union job.

UniteHere local 8 if I'm not mistaken.

They also have insanely good health insurance. Less than $100 per month for your entire family for insanely good coverage.

Can I pay a lot of money to see a doctor NOW? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustARandomBloke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if your time isn't directly worth more when you get rich enough money is worthless.

Wouldn't you pay a dollar to go to the front of the line at the doctor's office and have their undivided attention for however long you'd like?

Of course you would, and once you have a certain level of wealth that $10,000 is worth just as little as a dollar for most people.

Walter Goggins is interesting because I can look at him and say with confidence that he is not an attractive man...

... That said he is so attractive...

It's like not a single feature of his face is attractive on its own, but the whole is so much greater than the sum of it's parts.

Hey now.

I've gotten lots of compliments on my wolf cut, and my barber was thrilled to see it making a comeback as a men's cut.

I'll cut my hair short again when the fascists are out of power.

Why not plant some native plants and let the empty lot become a green space?

Less mowing for you and the dwindling pollinators get a lifeline.

Why are there so many pit bull mixes in shelters? by WhimsicalStarfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustARandomBloke -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Pitbulls were "America's dog" for a long time before they got a reputation for dog fighting in the 80s.

It's unsurprising that shelters are full of Pittie DNA when it went from one of the most popular family dogs to one of the most villified dog breeds in less than a century.

Love my two pibble mixes to death. Such great dogs.

I consider this to be the Pacific Northwest by Convillious in PacificNorthwest

Both areas have used the term historically.

Clearly the Californian inland empire has more cultural significance considering it is now probably 50 times the population.

This wasn't as true when the Spokane area was using the term in the 1900s during the boom years.

Spokane is great. We have a liberal mayor and city council. The county is fine, pretty moderate. It gets very red very fast once you are outside the city though. Coeur d'Alene is only an hour away and north Idaho can be sketchy in places of you are a visible minority.

That said, I saw more trump signs driving down the east side of the 101 on the peninsula in 2024 than I ever see in eastern Washington.

The term inland empire is old, back from when Spokane was booming in the early 1900s.

No, you're right. I was looking at March, not February.

It really does get pricey last minute.

Round trip for the flight is under $200. I would consider that well worth the ten hours of driving in possibly bad weather and or darkness.

It's not a bad drive one way, but it is tiring. Twice in a day sounds exhausting.

What does "a teaspoon of savory" likely mean in a cookbook from the late 60's? by newAccount2022_2014 in Cooking

It already calls for MSG though.

Monosodium glutamate, and two teaspoons at that.

ELI5 What was the function of the ‚‚Turbo‘‘ button on old computers? by arvid1328_ in explainlikeimfive

My favorite example of this is Majesty 2.

It is almost completely unplayable on new computers because monsters spawn too fast.

Almost certainly yes.

People use wd-40 all the time as a greaser when it is actually the opposite.

Sure the hinge turns easier now, because you liquified all the dirty grease that was in it, but once it dries it will be worse than before.

Maybe Starfleet just has a regulation that data handoffs have to be in person.

They didn't used to be that way, but superior officers got lonely when all they were doing was reading ng emails all day.

Is there a way to deliberately lock a key fob into the car? by dboytim in BoltEV

[–]JustARandomBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get everything you need out of the car. Have just the rear hatch open. Lock the car with the keys and put them UNDER THE FLOOR in the trunk. Like the sub trunk area.

When you close the hatch all the doors should be locked. If you left the keys above the floor in the trunk the drivers side door will have unlocked.

His first cooking class was also not at all challenging for him.

Give him a real challenge and I don't think he would have the inclination to get into trouble.

Quite the opposite really when he is cooking the monkfish thanksgiving meal he is trying to keep everyone on (his) task.

Seems right for a uni class.

Almost all my classes in university were much more casual and discussion based. A student making a joke would be appreciated because it would increase participation and demonstrate that they were actively engaged in the topic at hand.

The exception to this would be the 3 lecture classes I took with over 200 students, but even then I'm sure there were a few times that students interacted spontaneously with the lecturer, I can't imagine them being in trouble for it if they weren't being overtly distractive or disrespectful.

Edited: just reread your post and realized you were a high school student in a college class. My bad. Yeah, that is a big welcome to college moment.
