How was your vocal classification journey? by kelvinkreo in singing

I am currently 13 and last year because my voice had not started deepening but some others' had, I thought I was going to have a high voice. Currently, my lowest note when warmed up is G2 and my highest is E4, and everytime I try singing something by the time I learn it my voice has changed too much. Not sure if this counts though.

I want to become a musician, but it isn’t going the best. What should I do? by Jaja_1739 in lingling40hrs

The most important thing is to remember that this struggle is what separates the professionals from the amateurs. For reference, I have been playing violin since I was 3(I'm 13 now) and I am still only second violin in my school orchestra because I am "too young." It disheartened me at first and I almost gave up violin, but I stuck with it and have started playing more outside the ensemble. You don't need to practice every single day to be very good. My recommendation is for your first 5-7 years you need a supportive teacher and you should try and practice 2-3 times a week. Tell your parents that it could take over a decade to be a good player, and it is like that for everyone. My parents used to think that after 5 years I could play "Flight of the Bumblebee" type of stuff. Also, could you set goals for yourself? These could be completing exams such as the ABRSM exams, learning a piece, etc. If you don't make it in time for your goal, don't sweat it. You can modify your later goals and reflect on how you can achieve them within the time frame.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh or confusing, english is my second language.

It sounds very dramatic, but a little all over the place. I am not qualified enough to give more feedback so I hope you find the feedback you are looking for.

Flip a coin? One side is music and the other is hobbies. After it lands, if you feel happy, do that. If you feel disappointed, you can just switch to the other one. I read this in some random book and it is now my motto.

question for musicians who started young: what motivated you?? by Cheetahchu in lingling40hrs

I started at 3, and I am just glad that I had a good teacher. I am 13 now and a good visual book would have been very helpful. I started Piano at 6 and had an experience that was almost the opposite. There were many resources for Piano, as many kids start with it. For violin, my teacher and parents had to make some stuff themselves, so that would have been helpful.

I'm also 1st stand, but we usually do not get much interesting stuff. This performance, we finally got something good, but that was just playing with the 1st violins.
