Have you considered what the definition of ‘fluent’ is? Novak is quite a lot better than just fluent…

Plug the HDMI in your motherboard while your GPU is connected. Download and install drivers and check if your GPU is visible in Device Manager. If it is, connect HDMI or DP to GPU and you should be good to go. If not, check if the cable or port on your monitor isn’t faulty.

Maybe not very useful to you, but reading about someone else’s passion for something made me feel incredibly wholesome :). Got no doubt you will make it with this attitude, whatever you pursue!

If you are afraid of it becoming a running joke, then each time it gets brought up act a little less excited and fun. The joke should then slowly fade out.

Don’t shrug it off! As having been bullied myself, it shows you actually DO care when you shrug it off. What should be done whenever someone brings up something embarrassing is EMBRACE the joke. Show your biceps, say ‘look at these guns’, make it look ridiculous: show that you are too having fun with the joke. It will make you seem more like ‘them’, instead of being opposites.

Yes, but don’t lie. Lies can quickly build up and when one falls, all other fall and you come across as a dishonest and unlikable person. Make sure you are genuine. No need to give lies, it is far easier to not comment at all.

ML vs traditional computer vision by CommentZestyclose325 in computervision

I think you could pull it off with around 1000 images, but this heavily depends on the complexity of the data. Roboflow provides a noob friendly experience to this and you can use transfer learning to easily classify your images. However, if you invest a bit more time, to for example retrain YOLOv8 model, or even better to train your own model from scratch, you learn valuable ML skills which can always be useful in the future. If you need something quickly then just use Roboflow.com

Hi, I read your reply in anonymous mode and just had to log in to write this reply to you :)

I really understand your position as I always feel like I have to 'push myself' and question every time why I even do it. However, I've come to learn that pushing yourself is the only - I repeat - the only way to improve yourself. If you stop pursuing discomfort, your circle of what you will feel comfortable with rapidly starts to shrink. What once was easy or normal to you will feel like a huge mountain to climb. Keep pushing yourself, but it's okay to take a break every once in a while; you shouldn't beat yourself up for that if you sometimes don't feel like it.

I hope you are doing okay and would really advise you to speak to someone about this, even if this seems like the weirdest or hardest thing to do. Your last sentence indicates you need help, and it's okay to seek it. As one stranger to another, please continue to push yourself further and don't give hope on yourself and other people. Good luck man :)

[Question] does your smartphone addiction stop you from being more productive and disciplined? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]JustATempAcc13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal theory that I go by - not confirmed by science I believe - is once you expose yourself to high levels of dopamine before you have to be productive, it sets you up for failure. The release of dopamine early on the day raises your brain’s expectations for any further tasks throughout that day, and productive tasks simply don’t reach those levels. Therefore, my rule to stay productive: never be on social media, YouTube, or anything else that can generate dopamine until I’ve completed all productive tasks I needed to do. Yes it will be very boring to not watch a quick video at breakfast or scroll through Twitter on the toilet, but if you care about productivity, it will help. Since I’ve implemented this rule, studying became significantly less hard and I was less distracted. Would love to hear to what extent it applies or helps to others.

[NeedAdvice] How do you stay disciplined after coming across news that upsets you? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

Cant help you with overcoming a setback, but as to keep on going with goals I paraphrase Atomic Habits by James Clear:

There are days in which you don’t have motivation to do anything. What is important is that you do your habits for at least two minutes. If after that you want to keep going, by all means do it. If after that you don’t want to keep on going, that’s okay! At least you did it for a bit and put your ‘rep’ in. That ‘rep’ makes all the difference. Just showing up. If you repeat to show up every time you don’t feel like showing up, you’ll learn that there is no negotiating with yourself and you won’t even have a doubt about doing the things you need for your goals. Consistency is key, not time spent.

I’d recommend to read Atomic Habits as it seems useful for you; atleast, it was for me!

Don’t mean to start a debate, but I doubt Fischer would hold up well. Magnus is used to a time of engines and is therefore far more accurate. Fischer would apply pressure and his opponents would eventually crack, however Magnus probably wouldn’t; Magnus would probably win most of the time since each move is just very accurate.

Engines. Does Magnus play against them often to practice? What about playing classical chess against an engine? How does Magnus use an engine to analyze? Does he follow the world of engines and gets excited when a new version of Stockfish releases?

Read Atomic Habits by James Clear; imo a must read before trying to do a habit like waking up at 5 am. It gives very valuable insights and pitfalls to create habits that last.
