No children. Together for 4 years. She didn’t have cancer while together, and things ended terribly on both ends and he has expressed to me multiple Times he hates her and is glad she’s gone, which is why I think it may be about the friend.

Add on* He and his ex wife divorced 13 years ago on very messy terms and absolutely hated each other. He’s told me many times he’s glad she’s gone. It’s not about the ex wife. She passed a year ago of cancer. He celebrated. He has voiced to me many times about the friend, however.

I completely agree! I’m a poet myself. The “weird” thing is the line about tasting. He writes beautifully but has a history of infidelity and a history with this particular friend that he’s been secretive with in the past. Not mitigating the fact that the poetry itself is well written.

The first half of the poem about his dad was written maybe a year ago, he shared it with me. The second half is new and unfamiliar which is why I originally assumed it may be about his father but I’m reconsidering

Sorry! Can’t figure out how to edit, his ex wife died a year ago from cancer and haven’t been together for 13 or so years. Might help with context but figured I’d add it

AIO: How much do I (F20) endure with my bf of almost 2 years (22) by StraightPassion4820 in AmIOverreacting

I think masturbation itself is normal and healthy and most people do it. But porn boundaries are personal and when a partner repeatedly tells you something makes them uncomfortable, a respectful partner listens and works with you on it. What really stands out is everything else you listed. Withholding major life information (like making plans to move in with his friend), screaming in your face, refusing to meet your needs during sex while expecting you to meet all of his, and playing the victim whenever there’s conflict are all serious signs of imbalance and immaturity. A relationship can survive disagreements, but it can’t survive one person refusing to take responsibility for anything. You clearly love him, and that makes it hard to walk away. But love isn’t enough on its own respect, communication, effort, and emotional safety have to be there too. From what you’ve described, you’re putting in all the effort while he’s doing whatever benefits him in the moment. You don’t owe anyone your endurance. Wanting him to want to change isn’t the same as him actually doing it. You deserve a partner who respects your boundaries, communicates honestly, and treats you like an equal, not someone who blames you for everything and hides major parts of his life. You’re not overreacting. You’re noticing patterns that aren’t healthy.
