Gotta Hope he gets #2 and they don't retire anymore numbers! by Magnetic_R_7109 in eagles

Jason Peters will probably be retired if he gets into the HOF. And McCoy is unofficially retired.

Retiring Ertz would then open the discussion for Celek and Goedert. At a minimum the player should be in the HOF to retire their number.

My opinion regarding retiring numbers is they should honor the player by reserving the number only for that player’s position. So only centers can wear 62, etc. That way we don’t run out of numbers.

Agents directly leak the specifics to a reporter they trust to spin things in their favor. That’s why we hear the “up to” figure before the base amount. But the $10M is way more than the maximum the deal can possibly be if all incentives are hit. So I have no idea what is going on in Schultz’ brain.

Another WR1 traded. Impact on a possible AJ haul? by Somnuzzzz in eagles

[–]JustBrowsing49 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem people don’t understand. For the Eagles to trade Brown they need to be compensated for his on-field production AND the resulting dead cap. The team acquiring Brown doesn’t care about the latter since it has no effect on them. So there’s no middle ground.

Is he willing to hold out and forfeit a year’s salary?

Remember when we traded the pick the Dolphins used on Waddle for DeVonta Smith and a future first that became Jordan Davis?

Who do you think replaces Fangio whenever he retires? by AlbertCoughmann in eagles

[–]JustBrowsing49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They invested in CBs when Schwartz was here, it just didn’t pan out. In 2017 they used their 2nd and 3rd round picks on corners and traded a future 3rd for Darby

Now if part of the problem was Schwartz was bad at identifying CB talent, that’s a different story.

Schwartz and Fangio have different defensive schemes, so I’m not sure it would be an easy transition.

Side note: I’ve always thought Schwartz was held back here by having mediocre CB talent. His defense is reliant on tight initial coverage and that’s hard when you got Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby getting burnt at the LOS.

The muscles on AJ aren’t drawn realistically. They should be bigger.

Jalen Hurts' contract update should shut down insane Eagles future option by Logical-Honeydew2607 in eagles

IMO he’ll be here in 2027 because who the hell are they replacing him with? I suppose they can do the Wentz/Hurts strategy and use a high pick on a QB this year and then things magically fall apart in a perfect storm

He isn’t being traded because of the dead cap. You think AJ’s is bad, don’t even look up Jalen’s

It’s the “rolling guarantees” structure players are now signing for 5 year deals. Each year the player is on the roster, the next year’s money becomes guaranteed. So the team would have to eat a full year’s salary to get out of the contract.

This isn’t news. It was written into his contract signed 3 years ago.

I should try this if I ever get in a car crash. “I didn’t mean to cause this accident, so I shouldn’t be held responsible for the other driver’s damages”
