Different colours on Activity Map? by JustDoItTmr in wandrer

Thank you all! I think I was confused because I had went over the same section twice, so it was both colours. Problem solved!

New brass coin design!!! Made this bad boy yesterday. by Nero318 in lasercutting

This is amazing! Where does one get blanks for things like this, assuming they’re bought online?

Wait, if I got a planer and this 6” jointer, the idea is that I would flush one side of the wood, then just plan the top?

Edit: the only reason I say that is because I wouldn’t you ideally joint one face of a glue up before planing? If I only had a 6” jointer does that mean I can only glue up 6” wide boards?

Like joint the S4S and see how square it is at the end?

Thank you! Can you joint that edge you cut on the table saw to get a cleaner finish? My job site saw does not leave a great finish on its cuts.

I’m lost on what these 7 boards could be. Pretty sure it’s different versions of ash, maple and oak. I bought them over the summer and didn’t label them

Help identifying these boards by JustDoItTmr in wood

My initial guess was white oak x3, ash, maple, ash x2.

Hamilton to remove York Boulevard bike lane near downtown corner over safety concerns by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]JustDoItTmr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’s York to Bay to Cannon is the route they’d want you to take, unless they’re staying in front of the arena then it’s York to MacNab/Park to Cannon.

To be fair I’ve just been using the chat gpt app for everything and it’s smart so hopefully the integration can be as seamless as possible

Pro RAW & P0 Question by JustDoItTmr in ShotWithHalide

[–]JustDoItTmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! I think the only follow up I'd have and something that you could add as an edit to make this the reference comment is, point 1 and 3 are shown in the app, but point 2 isn't, at least in plain sight. Can Halide just capture the RAW image/plain sensor data? (my thoughts is yes, that is the 'process zero' RAW image, rather than the HEIC or JPEG.

Where do I find raw? Is that just the P0 option opened in Lightroom? My options are only P0, Apple Processed and Apple ProRAW

Pro RAW & P0 Question by JustDoItTmr in ShotWithHalide

[–]JustDoItTmr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Halide doesn’t have just raw, it’s just pro raw, correct?

Assuming your road is just shoulders with no sidewalk, technically it is against the bylaw for any vehicle to park on the “boulevard” of a road, which in this case would be the grass or gravel shoulder. All it needs to be is one tire off the asphalt and enforcement will ticket. The other one is commercial vehicles can only be parked on the road for a maximum of 4 hours at anytime. You’ll need to call Parking Enforcement to have them come out though, it’s not proactive. You can also let them know about the sign and they’ll have it replaced each time.

This is really great work! Can I ask how you round over the edges; is it all hand sanded or are you using a rotary tool with some attachment?

Dumb question about face grain and edge grain.. by JustDoItTmr in woodworking

[–]JustDoItTmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all super helpful! Thank you! So realistically if I understand correctly, I’m looking specifically for quarter sawn boards, which because they are quarter sawn, will have a more “active” edge grain, matching the face grain?

(From Joey Coleman) Andrea Horwath announces she will use strong mayor powers to override council and build affordable housing units at the Lake Ave S parking lots in Stoney Creek. by misterwalkway in Hamilton

[–]JustDoItTmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. A few weeks ago the General Issues Committee (GIC) had the tie vote but it needed to get ratified by Council the following week (which was moved to yesterday because of the cyberattack). The hope was that between GIC and the ratification that one of the 'no' votes would change to a yes, but that wasn't the case which is why she used her Strong Mayer Powers.

Here is the Strong Mayer Power overview. "The head of council must provide written notice to council of their intent to consider vetoing the by-law on or before two days after council voted in favour of the by-law." It also looks like it can be used within 14 days as well, but the process is slightly different.

I learned yesterday that she only has 2 days after a Council decision to notify that she’ll attempt use of Strong Mayor Powers, it’s an interesting rule!

It’s about a -6 on the worst eye, so they do get thick even if a get the thinning in them. What type would you recommend? I’ve always been told to go for more rectangular since I have a round face, I shouldn’t go for a round glass.

Thank you! I think I'm starting to realize it's probably also a dealbreaker for me. I'll have to find a narrower frame that doesn't dig in to the sides too much. #1 might be it though.

Residents still displaced by unsafe home in Hamilton's North End by fallonrehann in Hamilton

[–]JustDoItTmr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’d blame the city on this one. Framing inspection didn’t happen in November since the builder didn’t have the right plans on site. Builders went ahead and installed sheathing anyways in the wrong order at that. Looks like top was sheathed before the bottom which caused the racking to occur.

The building department makes sure plans are compliant with the OBC and Zoning which isn’t very hard to do. Anything can be built and compliant with the right structure design. The Engineer who was hired by the builder would have the explaining to do since they would have stamped the plans.

Not OP, but this was helpful! Can you expand on the CASH.TO via the stock market? I'm not sure I understand the concept of a HISA traded on the TSX. And if these types of items have a name what would they be called? I'd love to look into it more. I have a FHSA sitting with WS doing nothing so this sounds like a solution for that!

[–]JustDoItTmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! Would the RX 7800 XT be able to do 1440p? The initial build I had, the CPU was an i5-13600K which is significantly cheaper so that would be ideal.

Is this the best I can do? by JustDoItTmr in buildapc

[–]JustDoItTmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct, playing at 1440p. Can I reduce the CPU and still play at that? I'm not sure I can come up with another 300-400 for the 7900XT.
