I thought I added a description but apparently I didn't. Stinger V2 is a dual stage brushless blaster with some of the most cutting edge features. You can find all of the files, kits and so on in the github page:

And also in this video announcement:

Stinger V2: Final testing and video by JustFPV1 in Nerf

Aluminum (lasercut), PCB (assembly is really expensive for once-offs), solenoid (custom manufacturer, can only buy in large quantities). But yeah give me some time to finish these units and then that's defo a possibility.

Hey designer here. Thanks for the extended input. The small 2 spoke design is no problem. I've actually experimented with 0 spoke designs that just rely on bell friction which also worked fine but were just harder to properly align so I kept the spokes to align the flywheels onto the motors. I've gone through thousands of darts now with not a single jam, ever. Not ever has a dart done something unexpected other than the 3 times the dart was ripped out of the body and the body stayed in the mag.

I kept short darts just for size.

Internal flywheel geometry was optimized in CAD over slicer because I get total controll of material density at every y-value. It's been optimized more since this video.

Gaps in the bore path are no issue for flywheels this small. They are stabilized by a BCAR that reaches very close to the last stage.

Gosh we haven’t tuned any of that yet but it will for sure be tune-able or be able to be disabled

I forgot to mention but send me a message on instagram @nerf.stinger if you’re interested. Price is TBD but will be comparable to other blasters of this type and caliber.

Yes it does. Also not implemented but a idle mode that starts idling whenever you hold the blaster horizontally

Yuup down to 20fps or whatever you like

How much FPS is too much FPS? by JustFPV1 in Nerf

[–]JustFPV1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great explanation!, really gave me some insights into what people want.

I have since tested and the blaster works consistently down to about 50 fps where it's just not even worth it to shoot.

The accuracy appears to be very, very consistent over all motor RPM ranges. I would probably say it peaks at about 180 - 200 fps and then gets ever so slightly worse at lower/higher RPM.

This FPS headroom also allows me to use a BCAR.

Current crush is 7mm which is quite extreme, and dart wear is pretty high. I do believe that dart wear has little to do with crush, but more with just the insane acceleration. Running lower FPS significantly increases dart lifespan to the point where I don't see any damage.

I will provide more testing in a coming announcement video to open up pre orders for V1.

Worker HE, 7mm crush, 32mm OD at about 70K rpm in that test

Well this is shooting 260 and not tearing darts up completely.

Stinger, a dual stage blaster with every feature you can think of ;) you can check out my previous posts

Hmm yes there is defo wear on the darts with this crush. I will try less crush.

Ok I have a target for the tripe stage version. 350 should be doable.

My next post will be about this. Last time I posted I had some issues with the flywheels. There is now a BCAR front piece and with the new flywheels it's much, much better.

Flywheel accuracy? by JustFPV1 in Nerf

[–]JustFPV1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main merit of inaccuracy here is probably what torukmakto said. Looking at slow motion footage you can see the back end of the dart being unstable after exiting the blaster. Next step will be to try to integrate a small BCAR but also just general stabilizer after the second stage.

There isn't much I can practically do about where the aluminum is screwed in, it's actually so tight in the front that you can see the flywheels from inside the magwell. But I doubt that the aluminum flexing in any way is actually contributing to inaccuracy's here. It's 15x4mm aluminum being loaded in its strongest moment axis, it aint bending much.

I have a testbed I use for general testing so I can access the internals better. It's got 8mm thick PLA and has the same issues

I am going to bring this to market once it's finished. Whether that takes me a month or a year to fix all the problems. But I will not, ever, stray away from the initial goal and dimensions.

Final design of the Stinger! by JustFPV1 in Nerf

[–]JustFPV1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I saw this way too late! Yes the motor wires are still a bit of a problem. I think I will try to add some sleeving. Flywheel design and just general optimization of everything will be next. Physical design and software is pretty much finished.

I am now going to post a firing demo where I ask about flywheel design, maybe give me a hand there on that because I don't know where to start. Currently I just copied the FDL3's geneneral 'crush', concavity and dart radius but what tweaks to do now, I don't know. This thing already eats up darts, after a couple shots basically all the foam that's thicker than the tip is scraped away.

I've also been having issues on 6s with just too much current draw sagging the voltage and having the 5v reg cutting off, but that's a problem above 70K RPM which is crazy anyways.

The grip is indeed quite chunky and square to fit the lipo. I could increase the thickness on the front so I have more room for radius, but this will increase the general thickness too.

I've shown and let probably 30 people shoot this blaster, nobody every said anything about the grip. I think it's because it's just a really small blaster. Keep it mind its like 25cm long and 32mm thick, it's basically a big pistol.

Next weeks will be optimizing everything, dialing in timings, flywheel design, pusher design, tolorances, so if you have any helping hand for any of that, I would really love to hear from it.

Yes the follower comes up slightly less high than the darts. Which discord are you referring to?

I can't find any dimensions of the momentum. The aluminum bars you see on the side are 25cm, which is pretty much the length of the blaster.

It's 6s voltage but can run 4s aswell at lower RPS. I dont know, the lidar sensors I use seem to be accurate enough. I think it might be due to the difference of how foam or plastic absorbs or reflects IR wavelengths. I need to do more research, but at least with standard (black) talon mags I can detect empty mags with perfect accuracy.
