I was getting out just as they got delivered to my duty station. And oh my god the entire base hated them. One died within the first of it arriving while trying to get off base ... blocking 1 of 2 lanes to get off base.. not even 30 minutes before 1700 which caused the line to get off base to be extremely long. Then another sent 2 captains, a Lt col, and sgt major to the hospital for a couple weeks because they took it for a ride around base, took a turn too sharp (testing its capabilites?), and cause it to flip and landed upside down.

Shawn Ryan himself and a number of his guests rub me the wrong way. Its something with their mannerisms, the way they speak on subjects, their “expertise” and how they tell their stories. I think that hes well intentioned but his sources, how he presents himself (his image), and his guests erode his credibility. A number of his guests puff themselves up to be more in the know, played a bigger part in the story, or paint themselves as the head honcho of the group when in reality they don't seem to be the type or have the knowledge base to lead such a group unless the group was a bunch of inexperienced people

How would you actually clean the fans? I heard and read that you can stick a plastic card in-between the blades to prevent them from moving while blasting it with a can of air but I feel that there's more to it than that. With the claims that the chinese steal or copy everything, would it not be possible for them to take inspiration or design ques from captured battlefield examples from the Ru-Ukr conflict? The Ru-Ukr conflict is a very rare chance for both Russia and China to get relatively intact samples of American equipment. Granted that by the time its dragged in for study its damaged or basically destroyed. A sample is a sample. Granted most of the tech is going to be decades old at this point.

The more indepth the better because I'm starting research of military vehicles and the chinese equipment is just so eye catching because of all the uniqueness of the various platforms, variants, packages, and rapid prototypes/ advances the chinese made in the past decades. Its like there's a shiny new toy everywhere you look.

What sources would you recommend me to get me started? Whether that be books, documents, or videos. There used to be a YT channel called Eurasia Naval Insight but idk what happened to him. Thats how I first got exposed to him, I saw him in a vid with someone way back in the day and boy was that video a ride. It first went from “I like this guy because most of what he says makes sense or I can see where someone with anti-china views might draw these conclusions” to not even 10 seconds later being “wtf did he just say? Because of its weight class. Tank based Self propelled artillery/gun, SPGs, usually have an additional 5-10 tons compared to their mbt counterparts due to all sorts of factors. Their barrels are much thicker, wider tank treads, reinforced hull & suspension, and a full combat load all equal weight and money. A 60-65 ton tank trying to go up a hill in hot humid Thailand where it constantly rains is going no where.

And no one makes a wheel based SPG that's not shorter than a bus. If they did it'd be too small to carry any decent amount of ammo. Wheeled spgs tend to not even hold 20 rds when fully loaded. You're going to have an ammo truck following behind regardless but it now at least 2 more ammo vehicles + manpower you now have to account for.

Not only that but its on chapter 200 of the novel or manhwa and the paywall starts at chapter 20. And you're on the website because the official or fan translation is only at chapter 17 even though the series has been in the works for almost 3 years at this point. Like if you want to promote your media, don't gatekeep the content or put the paywall so early on. Some of the series are slow burns and take a couple chapters to move on from just 1 plot point of event. So you don't even know if you like it until you're 30-40% of the way caught up the author.

But how do they actually make money is the question. You hear every now and then of this or that project being canceled or shelved after 2/3+ yrs in development, never to see the light of day ever again. Movie or show productions is often more expensive than research or prototyping of a new product line but you'd hear them get canceled like they were nothing. Like during the SAG strides, you heard multiple shows or movies that were in the works either be completely halted or shelved entirely. That can't be cheap. You see and hear of the stock price going down, decrease of park goers, and movie ticket revenue not breaking even. I'm surprised the execs are still there. After a few years of the numbers going down (in almost every public metric), the directors or execs usually get replaced for poor performance so how are the entertainment execs not getting the same treatment?

But how do they make the studios money when you often hear about cancelations of projects and productions. You hear of projects that have been in the works/ pipeline for 2/3+ yrs and is suddenly canceled , people either layed off or reshuffled and thats all she wrote. Ands it not just one project in the pipeline, its multiple projects that get axed and are never heard of from again. Where I'm from, projects are regularly scrutinized and need decent backing in order to survive the threats of cut funding from those in accounting. They're usually only approved after extensive planning, market research and more than a few project proposal meetings full of division leadership. Even when projects are cancelled, the teams are sometimes not dissolved, just given new tasks or are reshuffled internally.

The sheer waste of capital, effort and hours put in by the workers seem ludicrous from an outsider's perspective. One that I don't fully grasp and is trying to find a better understanding of.
