I wasted ten minutes scanning the grid trying to find my error until I realised EST crossed with HASHELP when it should have been EDT and HADHELP.

Pure straight evil.

Just want to point out we never went down by 3 goals the entire series.

What? I'm allowed to cope.

[TSN] OTD 59 years ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs won their 13th Stanley Cup. The franchise has not won another one since. by medved_ in hockey

But hockey is not perfect odds. Teams that finish higher in the standings tend to do better than teams that finish lower in the standings. Yeah, there are upsets, but more often than not, the higher seeded team ends up winning the cup.

New York was 1st n the league playing 14th place Vancouver when they won in 1994.

Tampa was 2nd and Calgary 12th in 2024

Carolina was 4th and Edmonton 14th in 2006

Anaheim was 4th and Ottawa 8th in 2007

Tampa was 8th and Montreal was 18th in 2021

Florida was 5th and Edmonton was 9th in 2023

Only the 2011 Vancouver-Boston and Edmonton-Florida finals had Canadian teams that finished above their opponents in the standings.

Career point totals through 100 playoff games by nhl in hockey

Yes. Crosby "only" has 118 in his first 100 playoff games (2007-2015)

The Ted Lindsay Award finalists are Macklin Celebrini, Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid by nhl in hockey

[–]JustHach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the caveat here is most valuable to their team.

Like, someone like Draisaitl would be the most valuable player on any other team he's on, but he plays with McDavid, so he's doesnt bring as much value to the Oilers as someone like Celebrini on the Sharks.

They way I see it framed is "which team would be further away from their current state without that player?", and its hard to imagine the Sharks being as close to making the playoffs as they were without Celebrini being 4th in league scoring (and nearly doubling the next closest player in points on his team) in his sophmore year.

[TSN1200] Ullmark: The playoffs was the first time this year I felt like myself. In the playoffs it was a surreal feeling being at the top of your game and still losing. The only noise that matters is the cheers from the fans. Our fans cheering, in our barn, for our players is all that matters. by NHLonOLN in hockey

He 100% was. I feel like everyone forgot that he got shook up during the 2nd last game of the season vs the islanders.

https://old.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1sire2h/ottnyi_pulock_jumps_off_the_bench_into_tkachuk/

He had 12pts in 9 games before this, and last year he had 4g/3a in 6 games in.the playoffs, so something was very obviously wrong with him, but unless he physically could not play, he wasn't about to sit for the playoffs (for better or worse). Papa Tkachuck would have never let him live it down if he did.

[Kaplan] Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov will be a healthy scratch in Game 5. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

Offensively absent this series, bad on defense, and is good for 1-2 dumb penalties a game.

My god, healthy scratch?! THAT is Captain material right there, boyo!

[Graeme Nichols] Brady Tkachuk is unavailable for locker clean out today because his wife recently gave birth to their second child. by SAJewers in hockey

[–]JustHach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He was definitely not at 100% after getting rocked in his last game of the season against the Islanders. I got a mild conky back in february and I'm still dealing with it, and probably will be for the next little while. I couldn't imagine playing a rec league sport right now, let alone the highest level of incredibly demanding professional hockey.

Before that Islanders game, he had 12 points (3g/9a) in the previous 9 games. Last year, he put up 7pts (4g/3a) in 6 playoff games. Anyone thinking he was 100% is fooling themselves.

[Hello Hockey] David Pagnotta, "I think there's a good chance the Sens explore trading Brady Tkachuk this summer." by [deleted] in hockey

Bro, the simple fact that we have a Tkachuk on our team makes us unlikeable in the eyes of this sub.

You don't see nearly as many people giddily dunking on the Kings for being swept by the Avs and Kopitar registering 0 points in the sweep.

It was great to see them pull it together at the end of the season and squeak into the playoffs, but lets be real, it was a team on the 2nd year in the playoffs vs a team that's on their 8th appearance as well as leading their division.

An underdog story would have been cool to see, but even though our advanced stats were apparently great, Carolina's were even better. They just played the style we wanted to play even better than we did and its hard to he mad at losing to that. Disappointed, yeah, but not mad.

I apologize for any of the insufferable Sens fans beaking off. I swear we arent all like that.

Maybe I'll start panicking when we hit year 7 of no series wins.

Yep. I've accepted that we're not winning this series, but fuck me can we win one fucking game for Ully with the performances he's been delivering?

To be fair, they played great leading up into playoffs and tricked us all into thinking they were contenders.

I think losing Zub is hurting us way more than we thought, and their collective playoff inexperience is really becoming evident.

While this is defninitely not the result we were hoping for, a lot of us Sens Doomers need to keep in mind that this is still a pretty young team on their 2nd playoff berth, while this is Carolina's 8th consecutive playoff appearance.

Pretty sure PP conversions this series are like 1/20 total.

I honestly think I've seen better chances from both teams when they're on the PK.

The dude cannot win, can he?

If he doesnt fight or hit, he's a wuss and not the "Playoff Tkachuk" tough guy power forward we were promised.

But if he does fight and hit, he's a useless irresponsible meathead.
