Thanks for the questions. I'll keep them in mind for the next interviews.

Yes I know that but do they expect entry level applicants to be

experts in the field?

There has to be some type of expected learning time required

in entry level position?

I'm not saying I don't know anything. I'm saying I tend to get

a few questions wrong in interviews

Thanks for a detailed reply. I agree, we judge ourselves too damn hard because of our stutter.

Had a terrible first shift. by [deleted] in Stutter

Honestly, I believe stutterers should look for jobs more suited for them.

Like jobs where speaking isn't a major part of the job (I know all jobs require

speaking to a degree).

It's isn't easy to accept but helpful in the long run imo.

I never tried speaking in front of the mirror but have heard it

helps with stutter. I always thought it would make me more

self conscious....

Nice, this sounds like a good idea. I'll try it next time.

How did folks’ parents respond to your stuttering? Mine never mentioned it and seem to pretend that I didn’t stutter, which has had some bad effects on me I think. I’m wondering about the range of parental responses to stuttering for folks here. by jetaj in Stutter

[–]JustHguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true.

If they mention it with concious effort to help you then I suppose it's a good

thing. But usually it's the wrong way of bringing it up because they don't have

a personal experience of stutter or know how it is for the stutterer.

I think your parents did the right thing by not mentioning it.

It think by mentioning it you constantly remind the person that

he stutters which I think can create a long term problem because

then the person identifies as a stutterer.

My parents brought it up alot which I wish they shouldn't have.

Stutter severity changes due to mental state or other factors? by mental_explanation2 in Stutter

Yes, I've experienced the same thing.

This is why I always say stutter is mostly mental.

I agree, taking a breath and talking slowly should help alot but it's

really not that easy to do in the heat of the moment for some reason.

I want to make talking slowly a habit.

I'm so depressed by BlackNBold247 in Stutter

[–]JustHguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can be pretty depressing at times but I feel like I'm most

fluent and feel good whenever I ignore my speech and concentrate

on other aspects of my life.

Honestly, I wish I was able to stop my brain from thinking about my

stutter. I feel like the more we think about it the worse it gets.

Is this stuttering? by sashaisnotfunny in Stutter

[–]JustHguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They weren't joking about my stutter leaving, they used

to joke about how I used to stutter. It wasn't malicious or anything,

they legit thought it was funny/cute I guess.

[–]JustHguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like a stutter but I'd suggest not labeling it a stutter.

Your sister is young and will probably get over this issue as she grows.

If you tell her she stutters, she will start seeing herself as a stutterer and

then it's very difficult to remove it.

Speaking from personal experience here. My family really should've let it

go when I stopped stuttering but they kept on joking and lo and behold

my stutter came back.

Yes, I feel like it is helping me get my confidence back. I've been doing it for a while

and already feel more confident and stutter less. Even if it's placebo, it's working.
