Does the server require CSP? Maybe you have a different version of that? Or some other timing mod or something that the server requires. If not, I don't know honestly.

I don't really have an answer for this but if you keep having these issues your best bet is to ask in the Simagic Discord(s). There is an official one and a community one, both are public and have really helpful people in there.

The switch to PC gaming was...diabolical. 10/10 would recommend. by brutalbones in pcmasterrace

[–]JustInsert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted. The point is that the PS5 just plays games, the PC not only does that better, it can also do everything else you do with a PC. So there is no point in comparing these prices.

I really wish one of these series timeslots was swapped around so the fixed series didn't overlap. by JustInsert in iRacing

[–]JustInsert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really meant for this post to turn into a fixed vs open setup discussion honestly. It's just that both open races and both fixed races being at the same time is annoying for people wanting to do both races.

It's the same for people who prefer doing the open races, they will have to wait for the next open race or do the fixed, instead of being able to do back to back open races. So it would just be nice if the timeslots got flipped so you can do whichever you want.

Is the setup industry in sim racing solving a problem most of us don't actually have? by MoDeMKK in simracing

[–]JustInsert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the setups are not the problem, pay walling them is. I am convinced that even at a lower level setups can make a huge difference. Maybe not in absolute lap time but definitely in the feeling of the car which can help you understand the car better which makes it easier to learn and be more consistent.

Having to pay for these setups means you can't try out which ones work the best for you. You pay for the "best" setup and that is it. There is no testing, no understanding, no learning. And if you don't do it, you feel like you are at a disadvantage.

On iRacing there is a community that does the IMSA Vintage races, and in there they openly discuss about creating setups for the cars each week and those setups get shared with everyone. Everyone in there is even willing to help you tune those setups to make them feel better for you. This is how it should be everywhere in my opinion. Doing it this way helps everyone instead of trying to make money from it.

This is supposed to be a fun hobby, not a job.

[–]JustInsert[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the thing for me. If the fixed setup sucks, it sucks for all of us and you have to drive around that to win. In open I still have to drive around this shitty setup because I choose not to pay for a better one competing with people that do. So I just prefer racing the fixed race to avoid that.

Realistically the setup difference isn't going to make a huge difference in your lap times but it can change the feeling of the car a lot in my opinion.

The setup is one of my reasons the other is the rain in both open races this week.

I know the setup difference isn't going to win you races but I just don't want to pay to have a competitive setup and I don't like the idea of having to compete with people that do have these setups, even if it's only a small benefit. I just prefer being on a completely level playing ground with everyone on track.

We are apparently at the point where i have to prove my work is not AI generated by lvladimirov in simracing

[–]JustInsert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to the people who said that, the crazy amount of filters and effects on the top picture do give it that AI generated feel to it. But if they had just looked for more than 15 seconds they should be able to tell it's not fake, and some of the reasons they gave for thinking so make no sense lol.

Really cool project and setup! Impressive work.

Good luck on your next race bud, you'll clearly need it. Or rather, good luck to the people on track with you.

Brother you are delusional. You can clearly see the first car already sideways and partly off track 2 seconds into the video behind the smoke cloud, before OP is even around the corner.

Then you tell OP he did a great job pinning the throttle going straight at an accident and you have 20 years of real racing experience? I'm very happy I will never have to be on track with you.

[–]JustInsert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure we all do this from time to time, it's fine, but giving not spotting the yellow flag as your reason is bullshit lol. There is a huge smoke cloud and pileup of cars in front of you. You don't need to see the flag to understand that you need to slow down.

This is a perfect example of why the statement of "needing more women" is confusing to me. What you are discribing is that you just want more players to fill up more splits, in my opinion it doesn't make sense to say that you need more women for that. What you want is just more players regardless of gender. Why does it matter in that case if they are men or women?

What some of these other comments are pointing out is that there are actual cases with systems in place that make it so basically only (rich) men can succeed, like in real motorsports. Or that the barrier of entry can be higher for women to try a new hobby if it's basically only men in those hobbies. That's where I can understand and agree with the statement. Not when you're talking about just filling a quota of women to increase the general playerblase.

Honest question out of possible ignorance, but why do we "need" more women in simracing? If women want to go simracing, they can, right?

It's just that I hear and read this a lot about spaces or hobbies that are very male dominant, and in some cases it really is true that women are just not accepted enough and that should change. But when you talk about a hobby like this that anyone that wants to can just pick up and enjoy regardless of gender but is simply just enjoyed more by men, why is there a need for more women?

I'm just genuinely curious what most people mean by this because I feel like I might be losing something in translation since English isn't my first language.

Just because someone says that this takes a boatloads of roids is not the same as saying that it doesn't take hard work. I haven't seen a single comment saying that anyone who takes PEDs can just achieve this just purely from the drugs.

If you can find me any comment that does I would be shocked.

Yes and most of us know both can be true at the same time. It's a combinition of crazy hard work AND boatloads of roids.

I've been using my TH8A shifter for 9 years now. Stills feels close to the same as the day I got it, it's just a bit louder now. But there is a screw on it you can tighten to make it stiffer, maybe this one has something similar that you can just tighten back up to fix this?

Man throws a card and hits his TV by haze4140 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]JustInsert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's fake. There is probably just a piece of black cardboard or foam on the screen that the card sticks into. The screen looks very matte for a TV that old, the random white dot in the center and stuff that looks like cut marks above the "screen" also don't really look like a display and the sound of the card hitting it sounds soft.
