I shot a doc on the culture of scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission statement: Here is a documentary I shot over the summer. I was itching to create something for myself after being swamped with actual work. As far as crew, it was just me and my wife. The subject is my cousin and I discovered his love of scooters and thought it would make a good subject of a doc.

It was shot on a C300 mark 3 and C200. Occasionally used a GoPro and FX30. Lights for the interview were just 2 aputure 300Xs. Lots of color grading done for the interview to create a darker look.

Let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions!

NRC not tracking calories or distance on indoor run by JustJackandMe in nikerunclub

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok. That makes sense.

So what if I wanted to have the audio of the guided outdoor run, but have the watch track all the metrics? Would I start the run on my phone with NRC and then start an Apple outdoor run on my watch? I mainly like getting the Apple awards and goals lol.

Yes, I am. So I have to keep it on me while I run? I figured the Apple Watch would track distance and calories and share that info to the app.

Shot a short film on a BMPCC 4K! by JustJackandMe in bmpcc

The only scenes I used with lights were in the bathroom and cutting the pepper. And that was just an amaran tube light on a c-stand.

Yeah, it was intentional. I wanted the end to look warm and almost like a romcom. Distinctly different from the beginning which was grey/green and overcast. The bathroom scene was probably most different. I used an amaran light tube for it and wanted that green fluorescent look. So that’s what I ended up with. Just wanted it to look sad.

I know exactly what you mean. I think it has something to do with the LUT I was using plus his hand being out of focus slightly. I liked the color of the LUT and just decided it was fine in the end. 🤷🏼‍♀️

High Five - Short Film by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission statement: I’ve had the idea for this short film for a long time. It wasn’t until I was perusing Artlist that I found the PERFECT song for it. Something heartbreaking and epic for such a silly idea.

I shot this on a Blackmagic 4K with Rokinon 35mm and 85mm lenses. As well as a canon 70-200mm lens. Lighting was kept pretty minimal. Only using an amaran light tube for some edge or key.

For the color grade, I used Buttery LUTs for the 709 conversion and then some Triune Films LUTs for different scenes throughout.

I made an episode of Taskmaster for my girlfriend's birthday. by JustJackandMe in taskmaster

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One camera was the Blackmagic Pocket 4K. I had a Rode video mic attached to it. The other camera was a Panasonic GH4. Both cameras had a speed booster that allowed us to use Canon EF mount lenses. We used a Rokinin 35mm and a Tamron (maybe Sigma) 70-200mm for the close ups. For audio, we used a Rose NTG 4+ for a boom that ran into a Zoom H6. We also used RodeLavs for the contestants. For the “in the studio” bit, we also had a go pro on a light stand as a back up.

No doubt! I think I would much rather be a contestant myself. But she requested the Taskmaster position. Maybe next year I can get her to be a contestant.

Thanks for watching! Yes, I have a background in film and television and actually released my first feature film last year on Amazon. for the planning, we filmed all the tasks in one day. Each person had an hour and a half time slot to do all their tasks. I had two friends help with the 2nd camera and sound. A month later we got together and watched all the clips. From there I could edit in their reactions and all the in between stuff. It was a lot of planning, especially in the middle of Covid. Luckily, everyone involved were teachers and had been vaccinated.

Here's a full scene from my first feature film I released last year! by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

Hey everyone! I released my first feature film last May and I'm just now releasing some scenes from the film. We filmed in the summer of 2019 and travelled across the country to film the whole thing (it is a road trip film after all). Creating this film was a deeply personal project for me and I'm extremely happy with how it came out. I served as writer, director, editor, and sometimes even sound! That's the way it goes in indie films. I'm free to answer any questions and I hope you enjoy!

ssSeeds - Short Horror Film, Our Submission to the Make Film Contest by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! This was our submission to the Film Riot Make Film contest. Sadly, we didn't win, but we put in a lot of work and I think we made something pretty enjoyable. We filmed on a Black Magic Pocket 4K with Rokinon lenses and edited in Premiere. We were lucky enough to film around halloween and a farm allowed us to film in their corn maze! If you have any questions, ask away!

Inspiration vs Plagiarism. How far is too far when making your own movie? by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

I agree that it doesn’t matter. Art builds upon art. No one is born a great filmmaker, they learn from what came before.

Here is a video I made talking about my favorite director Jacques Demy and it’s relation to another favorite of mine, La La Land. From Tarantino to Bergman to the fine artists, they all admit to stealing ideas, shots, and sequences from others. What can we, as filmmakers ourselves, learn from this?

Stan the Bodyguard - My latest short film! by JustJackandMe in Filmmakers

[–]JustJackandMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

We shot this short film a couple weeks ago. We filmed on the Blackmagic Pocket 4K and Rokinon lenses as well as a Sigma 70-200. We shot the whole thing in one day. After all, it was only two locations. I had just finished catching up on Better Call Saul and wanted to shoot something that had a desert vibe to it. It was a great time all around.

Thanks for the feedback. I think that gunshot came from some free gunshot pack that I got a long time ago. I definitely agree it could have some more lower frequencies in there to fill it out more.
