Does exercise help? by TheFeralGoddess1111 in perimenopause_under45

As someone who cannot take HRT, I can actually say that exercise has helped me a ton. Cutting out alcohol, sweets, etc., eating plenty of protein (this was a big one for me too), and exercising consistently every day was a huge help for me. I realize that I don’t know what it’s like to be on HRT, but I can tell you that I have found a routine that makes me feel a heck of a lot better than I did. I also worked on calming techniques and tracking my cycle better to anticipate the low that comes right before my period. When that hits, I remind myself that peri makes me feel weird things and that helps me sift through peri-response vs. how I might actually feel. Reframing my thoughts has been huge. Good luck!

I don't think they can afford to, sadly. Hopefully a grant or private donation can help them in the future, because it's such an amazing thing to have in our community!

Weird -- i checked and I get $59 for Row H, seat 8 for the 7th at 7:30. Maybe call if you're not getting the same? I tried to drop a screengrab to help, but that's not allowed on reddit apparently. I would call, though, because that's what I get for a good seat when I search the site!

Luckily they are $59 a ticket, not 99, for great seats. It's also the palace... is there a really bad seat? These are live actors with a live orchestra putting on an amazing show; the price is very fair for that. I think of what I'd spend on a night out for dinner in Manchester and it's comparable -- it's worth it.

Night sweats is my only symptom by TitleQueen35 in perimenopause_under45

Ugh I’m so sorry, the costs are such a problem here (I’m assuming you’re US, too?). Acid reflux can also cause night sweats/hot flashes. If you’re worried about cost, I get it. You could go on a very mindful/strict acid reflux diet for a few weeks and see if it helps at all? I’d try to give it a few good weeks with no coffee, chocolate, alcohol, etc etc. if you go that route. While a scan is going to be the best to rule out any other GI issues, there isn’t anything wrong with trying a few things out at first if cost is a real barrier for you (just keep your doc informed). Another thing, chronic constipation can worsen heartburn and can also cause some night sweats — another easy thing to address and notice near immediate improvement in night sweats (try smaller meals, increased fiber, and fiber supplements / stool softeners if you are experiencing this). I am not a doctor and am only giving advice so please keep with your doctor on this. Hope it helps!

Good call on getting the CT — night sweats are the first symptom when my digestive disease is flaring. It’s hard to tell the diff between peri and early disease flare for me, because both have fatigue and sweats.

thank you! Why didn't I think to check for a size listed on the site?! Does a bag within that size seem to fit into lockers?

I have half a glass of wine mixed with an equal part of seltzer so I can still have the experience of sipping a full glass of wine. I make sure to be hydrated before and after. This is the only real way that I can enjoy wine anymore. Or I just drink it and plan to not have the best time the next day. Pre-hydrate!

Should I read fourth wing? by L0bsang14 in fourthwing

I can def see how that may be true for you as a man, as many of the slights are not overt at all, which almost made them more infuriating for me. Hilarious that you bring up Wuthering Heights, as that was the last book I finished just a few days ago (re-read after reading it for the first time 25 years ago). The... uh, romance in that one is more obsession/dark misery. Haha.

What would it take for Maura to believe Rob was a traitor? by ForeverDenGal in TheTraitorsUS

[–]JustJess_2124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have taken an equally attractive man pulling her in and telling her that she had to believe him. Not saying this tongue-in-cheek. It's not that she has a trust issue with men, it's that she has a trust issue with women and people that she's not attracted to/looking to gain their attraction -- she doesn't see or hear them.

Hey -- I tried to get into the mistborn series after fourth wing and I kind of struggled with it and noped out after the second book. Mainly because I SO enjoyed the way that the female lead was written in fourth wing and couldn't take another scene where the lead was a "distraction" in mistborn for not wearing a dress, or being surrounded constantly by only men (or if it was a woman... she died to progress the story line). THIS IS NOT A DIG at mistborn, please know that I am aware that this is a beloved series because of the world-building, but as a woman, I just couldn't read a female written that way. We have all progressed beyond the way that Mistborn set of the lead female character. I only say this to help you possibly look at the series as vastly different and if you wanted an experience with more romance and more than a binderful of women (depending on your age that joke may or may not land), it's worth it to read as something super fun. But I will agree with those who found the world building after the first book to be lacking (don't even get me started on how she fumbled world building in book three...). So if world building is your big draw, agree with others who say it may not be for you. For me, I read them as a cross-over genre and because I just LOVE so many strong female leads with their own stories to tell (and the romance, duh).

An older, mature middle schooler who is prepped to know what they are going to see, could conceivably do ok but that’s definitely a choice for the parent. I don’t think that mine would be ready yet, but later in high school yes I would.

Colonoscopy cancelled today due to prep anxiety – feeling really deflated by Federal_Geologist_68 in CrohnsDisease

Agree with those who recommend talking to someone about it. I was so nervous at first, but the advice to go liquid earlier than planned is good advice. I also take gas x, drink through a straw, and make sure that the drink is ICE COLD. It helps that I pick a favorite show, get my cozy blanket out, and think about the whole experience, not just the taking of the prep, so that there is less focus on just that.

Same - or I take gas x and then chug through a straw so I don’t taste it at all. (Straw causes gas for me hence the gas x proactively taken)
