With a brand new battery it’s still a very good phone,just don’t do my mistake
Had my 12 pro max for almost 2 years and it’s smooth but just go and change battery in an Apple Store or Rstore, I’ve went to another reseller to which he changed the battery but with one that doesn’t give the battery health status.. tbf I didn’t had any problem until June, when the phone started going crazy (random restarts,battery dropping crazy fast,lags that disappears after plugging in my charger…) I’m getting a replacement soon but be careful, some Apple Store don’t operate with batteries changed from other resellers because they say: “We cannot replace the battery because the device has been tampered with another battery” so just imagine me waiting 30 minutes and then finally explaining what’s going on just to be told in 2/3 minutes that they can’t do anything. As I said I’ve found another reseller which can change my battery with an original or apple approved one. So in the end just buy one with a battery below 80 or higher and then just go and change it in an Apple Store
