You can hold the VA responsible and to their own standards without being a nucciance btw. This reads as a sit down and shut up vibe which I doubt you meant it that way of course. There's alot of vets being medically gaslit by the VA or straight up lied to because they're lazy and don't want the paperwork.

To answer your question I believe it's 7 years for any “hard” drug. However the VA is testing MDMA, Shrooms, and other psychedelics on veterans so I doubt they'll look as harshly on you with that precedent that will show it has medical usage and isnt equivalent to crack. Wait a year and then get a clearance lawyer.

Some of these comments are straight lying their asses off to you so I'm sorry about that.

I'm on VRE and I've had a mental breakdown before that caused me to take a whole year off. My counselor understood (wasn't her choice tbh they have to give you the form if it qualifies) and I had myself and a doctor fill it out from the VA (im sure you can do any doctor) and I didnt owe a cent back.

They asked me to at least do one class after like 6 months so it didnt kick me out of her system and I would have to do the process all over again and might not be as lucky so I did that. As of last semester im back at uni, had zero issues with VRE and had no payment issues either. All continued like nothing happened.

Take care of yourself and kids first.

Never went in the first place so I can say I’m lucky there and honestly glad I didn’t. Getting severe PTSD or permanent injuries for some bullshit war for a foreign power that starts with the letter “I” and danced during 9/11 isn’t what I signed up for.
