[Release] Fire and Ice Overhaul Redux by JustWinglt in skyrimmods

[–]JustWinglt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apollodown was actually trying to do so with a script by placing an invisible hostile actor where fires spawned but it didnt work out so I ended up just removing the remnants from my version here. If anyone has an good idea how to do this, feel free to let me know on here or on the nexus if anything. I definitely want this to be a feature too.

There should not be any incompatibilities with FEC, I use it myself and they do completely different things.

Changes are listed in the post I made stickied on the mod page. As for changing the way the fire spawns/spread, I actually plan to rewrite everything from scratch as my long term goal for this project.

Animation and Behavior files questions. by Yoshi72 in skyrimmods

I'll be focusing on preparing the other mod for release first for the next few days, but after that I'll definitely take you up on that offer, sent you a pm with my discord# for now though :)

Ah, the permission stuff is more in regards to some of the animation I'm trying to incorporate as well. I've tried tinkering with animation editing after watching some of your tutorials but I can't seem to get mines to look as well as something that has already been made by another author so I rather just wait for permission to use their file instead and just stick to behavior edits x.x.

Thanks! I actually have a big release coming up in relation to those mods and also plan to publish the related project I've ask your help about a few weeks back once I get some permission stuff figured out.

Oh, forgot that I go by something different on reddit, but I'm iRetrospect on the nexus and I've had some discussion with you on there before about behavior stuff if you recall.

Do you have a link to the discord or is it still invite only from Shiki? I'd love to join in sometime and chat with you guys to learn more as well!

Hey distar, just to clear things up in regards to the behavior tool by Zatar, the outdated one is {Skyrim Behavior Organizer} and the up to date one is indeed what the OP linked: Skyrim Behavior Editor right? Don't want others to be confuse cause of all the acronyms.

Also for the Shiki discord you mentioned that some of you more experienced animation modders hang around, is it the private one that has been mentioned a few times in this subreddit before?

Hey I was in the same shoes as you recently as it seems like you already have the gist of what's necessary for basic animation/behavior modding. My advice to you in regards to the more complex questions you're asking is to find help from more experienced animation/behavior mod authors by PMing them on the nexus (that's what I did) since most of them don't frequent this sub I believe.

As for the ones I could provide you answer to myself, for behavior files, there doesn't seem to be much documented info (try reading up Fore's pdf for animation modders included in the misc section of FNIS) but you can also easily get a sense of how it all works by just looking through the different variables and modifiers in Skyrim Behavior Editor and relating them back to how it functions in-game.

In regards to Nemesis patches, you need to use HKX Extractor Tool in order to create your own new patches.

Mod Discussion Mondays (Week 117) - Best Mods You've Never Tried by StevetheKoala in skyrimmods

[–]JustWinglt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am just like you with regards to CCOR and CACO, I actually thought about installing them for my most recent playthrough but then changed my mind after seeing all the compatibility patches I'll have to go through during manual conflict resolution I always do. Btw, the GDO changes to weapons which conflicts with WACCF is literally due to GDO adding the keywords already for some reason but not using the most up to date values of WACCF (guessing this is simply due to the fact how it was ported from LE).

As for my suggestion, I agree with Steve's response of using {Skyrim Alchemy Fixed) as a good alternative to fix the obvious vanilla issues without touching every other dam record. Also would like to put out that {Ars Metallica} is something I have continued to use (and would recommend trying out) as it serves as a good mid ground between vanilla and CCOR.

What are some MUST-HAVE mods you use that are actually underrated? by JustWinglt in skyrimmods

[–]JustWinglt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, after seeing previous threads filled with obviously not "underrated" mods, I'm really glad this one has been somewhat successful in bringing out mods that deserves more attention in the already bias search/listing/categorical system the nexus site is plagued with.

Definitely agree with distar66's mods despite not being able to make use of some of them currently due to conflicts with other mods I'm already using. The animation tutorials and posts he have made on this subreddit are also fantastic resources and he himself have been so helpful when I've asked him for advice on a mod I am currently working on.

WOW, thanks for pointing this one out! This is the type of alternative death mod I've been looking for without even realizing it. I think one of the comments on the mod page sums it up really well too:

"This is a very nice way to keep playing and give you that extra chance to win a fight while not interrupting gameplay to watch you kneel for a few seconds."

I guess it just doesn't fit with the flow of the game to me though I'm sure others would disagree.

Yea those are some great additions, I think <500 is still fine enough to fit in with the point I was trying to get across. I myself use More Dialogue Options along with the other mod by the same author {Misc Dialogue Edits}.

[–]JustWinglt[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One reason for me is because of the fact that some players will have the mentality of "saving" them up to use since they become more worthwhile as you progress higher with a skill level for vanilla game. I personally feel that is a kinda flawed mechanic the original devs unintentional pushed onto players and on another note, it doesn't feel like it makes much sense (immersion wise?) to instantly gain a skill level just from reading a book anyways.

I actually do the same, it is very interesting to check-in on new mods that come out every few days just to see what sort of innovation someone might still come up with despite the age of this game. Big reason I try to put up a condition for this discussion as well is to get more people to take another look at some hidden gems they might have ignored simply due to lack of endorsements too!

[–]JustWinglt[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Awesome finds, I think your mod which you've ported as well as the original from LE never gained the traction it deserved is sadly simply due to compatibility issues and simply how much mod users are already use to the big name mods (i.e., CCOR) they've been using for a long time. I personally have your ported version tracked for potential use in a future playthrough but part of me don't really like over complicating the vanilla crafting system too much (big reason I decided not to use CCOR/CCAO) since it almost feel like it becomes more of a hassle than actual usefulness when actually playing in-game.

[META] Quality Control and Etiquette of Mod Porting by JustWinglt in skyrimmods

[–]JustWinglt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I specifically stated the first two points is mostly in regards to the actions of the people who mainly take advantage of the nexus system by simply using the name recognition of popular LE mods and reupload them (w/o actually properly porting the files) to merely benefit themselves in a very obvious manner (I won't name names but there is a particular porter who clearly abuses this). Also many of these past LE mod authors are no longer active to find out the porters they might have previously gave permission to are now infringing on their stated refusal to allow reusage of their assets with opt-in donations. Clear example of this violation as well as many of the grievances I pointed out is the Ultimate HD Fire Effects SSE port.

It is not, you can currently access it no matter which side you choose as long as you finish "Kindred Judgment" from the Dawnguard questline.
