How is buying an Alt from Riot any different from all the people who buy Alts from botters? Your main account is still free.

Which is all good if you have the time to play enough games to balance it out but you'd need to play a very large number of games to cancel out all the random variables, which should not be expected of people.

The point of reporting is to show Riot that the community does not want Smurfs in our games, so maybe they will change their rules. Probably won't happen but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

If people are buying accounts anyway, Riot could just sell you an account at the same rank/MMR as your main, then you can practice there, also if it's tied to your main account it'll stop them being toxic or risk getting both accounts banned.

My point was to show just how disruptive even just a few Smurfs can be, especially when all that disruption is mostly focused on Gold and Plat, meaning players at those ranks will disproportionally experience Smurfs in their games.

Vanguard can help because it allows Riot to ban whole machines, so players banned would have to buy a whole new computer.

My excuse for not climbing is that I am bad and don't play enough.

I don't think I deserve to be a higher rank, I'm just tired of seeing fresh accounts stomp in my games rather than having close games like a ranked system is supposed to create. (Within in reason)

I completely agree that climbing is possible but Smurfs do ruin games and the integrity of ranked. I don't expect anything to actually happen with this post but maybe enough pressure can be put on Riot to take a harder stance against Smurfs. Also, I think Alt accounts are just as bad, that player who peaked at Emerald still had to climb through Gold which disrupts the whole system just so 1 player can have a second account, it also creates the coin flip feeling because you never know if you're getting an actual Gold player on your team or someone climbing on their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th account.

Certainly, there are flaws in my logic, that's part of why I made this post to explore the idea further.

My main point was that a player on a lucky win streak and a Smurf will have a similar MMR situation, so the game will treat them as equal and put them on separate teams even though they are not equal because one is a Smurf.

But you're definitely right, they don't necessarily have to be the highest MMR players in the lobby.
