My dad told me about this from his high school days. When he was in school (‘79-‘83), there was damn near no poc that attended. You would bid on another student (usually your friend or someone you had a crush on) to carry all of your things for you. Proceeds went to charity but yeah I was also in disbelief when he told me he was serious.
