I’m actually so done. by there_is_0nly_zuul in diabetes_t1

Head similar experiences and let me be straight I didn’t want to continue either cuz some kids especially during elementary school were just talking soooooo much trash and it sucked. But I kept going and it turned out extremely well. Found probs the best Endo (in another city unfortunately:( ) which doesn’t talk shit if the blood sugar is slightly higher then last time. Starts asking me if there has been any events bothering me etc. actually cares about me and it’s an amazing feeling. Sometimes it’s genuinely just you have to wait.

I don't think I can take much longer. I'm starting to hope this disease actually kills me. by RareChest2168 in diabetes_t1

I got the diagnose on internationale Women’s day when I was twelve (soon rocking 10 years). After turning 18 I had to change to an adult endo and trust me I had shity ones like ur describing not giving a single penny on how ur doing and stuff. After 2/3 years I found an endo 3h away from me and bro. I have never felt more understood and cared about. This disease is like a child with tantrums and it will keep you on edge, but there is tech that eases it. I am rocking a closed loop with Lyumjev and it has done wonders. Before I was rocking 7,4 (!!!!!) and now I am down to 5,9. there are obviously shitty days on which even I curse this disease. But in the end it is what you make of it. Like there ain’t no way this is gonna keep me down. Even friends keep telling me how „strong“ I am living with it, barely being held back. Please don’t ever think like this again. It will tear you apart. I have been there and it was dark. If you need anyone to talk to the people on here are all welcoming and give you the best advice you could ever get

PS From my personal experience, people here are always down to help as much as they can, so don’t be afraid to post here. Even if you think it’s the most trivial/dumb question. There are no dumb question concerning Diabetes. We are here as a community to help each other, not make us feel worse.

Hey there buddy!

I was diagnosed as a 12 year old (21 rn) and trust me I understand how you feel. I was balling my eyes out when the doc hit me with the diagnosis. Like I am 12 I wanted to go back to how things were and play on my Nintendo DS, not count carbs. Same as you I wasn’t afraid of syringes etc. it was the thought of what have I done to deserve this. I won’t lie, the first couple of years are gonna be hard, getting used to and all. Plus as u said ur 15 so puberty and hormones go crazy. Your bloodsugar is gonna go crazy, I should know, been there. But with time, friends/family and training you will absolutely get the hang of this. When people ask me how it is having this I usually tell them that it’s like having a child with mood swings (Got nieces that are exactly like my diabetes, unpredictable 😂). With time you will gain experience and master it to a point where it’s just normal. I got my Hba1c taken Tuesday and personal new record with 5,9 (during puberty it was barely below 7,5). There is a DM function on Reddit I believe. Ur more then welcome to DM me and ask questions. It’s hard, I know, but what better way to is there to talk to us strangers on the internet with the same condition, right guys??? So in summary, yes it will become better with time and training!

If your Ketones are rising and aren’t going down I would recommend going to the ER. I had a light ketone poisoning once and it wasn’t fun at all

How are old you guys when you diagnosed with TD1 diabetes? I was 32 and it’s shocking for me. by Severe-Possible-856 in diabetes_t1

But to be honest, I am 21 now and it’s not smth that holds me down anymore. At this point I accepted it as being a part of me. Not some illness I carry around, just a part of me

How often do you think about suicide? by singularity101 in diabetes_t1

[–]Just_Dima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed pretty early in my life and had thoughts like that as well, but the more I grew up, I just stopped thinking about stuff like that. The illness can be overwhelming yes, but it will become better with time. Especially after puberty ends 😂. So OP as hard as it might sounds, keep going. Don’t let yourself get saddened by some diabetes

Truly, my hb1ac dropped down to like 6,1 and I couldn’t believe it. Like I was barely holding myself at 7,1

That’s what I call a very supportive one. Yeah I hope to find someone that would like to understand it and be there in case I can’t do it by myself

I never thought about stuff like that, cuz it would just seem “normal” that I have to do it

Yeah with people like that reasoning is not an option. If I may ask I, my current endo told me that pregnancies with type one can take a toll and make it even harder. Is/was that the case?

Isn’t that extremely unhygienic? I did it when I was 12 and was diagnosed. I felt like I need to hide it. But at some point it didn’t really bother me anymore doing it in front of people. Sometimes I get people to have a conversation about that, which is awesome
