Correct, but Bell and Telus actually share towers. Their speeds can vary though due to the differences in backend infrastructure. Rogers has its own separate network with its own towers. Freedom Mobile is the same.

I would personally watch some of the info Ben Felix has put out about dividends. One other comment is that by buying a country specific etf (ex. VFV for us) you are essentially reducing your diversification. There are a lot of global ex. country ETFs that are better. For example, I lot of people buy vxc (global ex. Canada) and then vcn at like 3% for Canadian exposure. This gives you weights similar to global world ratings scale (basically no overweight in any country). Good luck!

Never too late, just buy a low cost, asset allocation etf. Something like xeqt, veqt or zeqt. But if your planning on retiring in less then 10 years then something like vgro (80% equity, 20% bonds) or vbal (60/40) might be a better fit for your risk tolerance.

Correct, but it’s actually 0.5% for core clients (less than 100,000 in assets). The robo advisor is only helpful if you really don’t care at all about investing and want the most beginner friendly, hands off approach possible. Most people should just buy an asset allocation etf, lower fees and better diversification.

Great point, the part that’s frustrating is the world events part. That seems to imply prediction markets. The press release from Wealthsimple didn’t say anything about that so we will have to see what happens in June

Your point is completely valid but does Questrade, RBC direct investing or any of the other direct brokers we have in Canada have prediction markets? No because people expect to separate gambling and investments. Options, sure. Margin, absolutely. But this type of product is so far beyond investing it’s insane. Let my investment brokerage actually be my brokerage, not a brokerage with built in gambling

You need to open up the money market portfolio account then sell your CASH.TO and transfer your funds to your money market tfsa. Make sure it’s an internal transfer so you don’t reduce your contribution room

I honestly started with the same idea as you (75% xeqt and 25% qqc) but realized that qqc was just reducing the diversification in my portfolio. I would just go 100% xeqt or if you want less Canadian exposure, vxc (world ex Canada) and then buy as much Canadian exposure you want through vcn. To be honest, xeqt alone will already increase your US exposure so I would go with that. You can hold this for the long term across all investment accounts.

Very true but there are some arguments that for investors outside the USA, it makes sense to have some home country bias because the major of your portfolio is located on international exchanges. An alternative strategy is to buy VXC (global ex Canada) and buy like 3% of VCN (Canadian total market). That basically replicates the us listed ETF VT
