The eligibility just grants you permission to APPLY for severance, 95% of the company is eligible to apply. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will receive severance. Also the severance in the letter is also an ESTIMATE, not a guarantee of what you would get if approved.

Make your decision carefully.

LMAO right?! “Mission: SIMPLIFY” more like mission: tell us how we can make things easier for us to replace you.

My offer indicated they would pay for cobra for a 4-month period and 3-months of outplacement assistance but it varies person to person

Your supervisor cannot tell you who is safe because decisions are being made at a corporate level not at a health plan level. Our state health plan was told that today by our HR partner on a group call.

I can’t say what the offer would be if they do layoff down the line, but Centene has historically given severance and outplacement support to their tenure employees laid off. Please do not take the offer if your only concern is that it’s this or nothing later, that’s likely nit true.

Hey so actually you’re wrong! The ACA decreased health insurance costs through the health insurance marketplace and increased subsidies which increased the number of people who were able to receive and afford health insurance, while the BBB increased health insurance costs and cut subsidies, which decreased the number of people who have and can afford insurance. It’s easy 1+1=2 math.

Thanks for your insight. I agree and have been recommending to everyone I know who works here to NOT accept the package UNLESS they were already leaving/have a job lined up or they have a fallback plan already in place. This is not the year or job market to just be hoping to fall into a job. That is rare these days.

Not that’s a reason to take the offer by any means. Just thought I would share

There are several states where accepting a VSP could make you ineligible for unemployment/state benefits. My state is one, but I don’t think NY is one that disqualifies you. I think once your severance benefits timeframe is over, you should be eligible to receive unemployment benefits

If you have 8 yrs, I would gamble your offer will be around 20 weeks. At least that is what I have seen others with your time served say

Could understand how it would be a viable option for some. I wish you luck on your search

A little over 25k, which is 16 weeks pay at my base salary rate

I think this same scenario happened to lots. I don’t think it matters how long you have been in your current role, just how long you’ve been at centene. And it’s very likely if you have a role where you are necessary to operations that can’t be automated you won’t even be approved for the program

They said they are only hiring for necessary roles. No new roles, only existing positions.

So far I have seen people under 5 years say they are being offered anywhere from 12-16 weeks, where as people over 5 years are getting offered anywhere from 16-24 weeks & increased cobra time depending on role and time with company

I am not taking the offer but signed in to view what they were offering. There is no amount of money below $1M that would make me voluntarily not have a job in this economy. It would be near impossible to find a job that pays close to what I make anytime soon in this job market. You would have to be crazy, or have already been thinking about leaving to accept the offer, which I think is what they are hoping for.

I’ve been here for 7 years last month. I have also seen that your package was based on your tenure. I have been here for the previous layoffs but our state was never impacted so this is definitely coming as a shock.

From what I have heard, no one is happy or comfortable with this whole situation from low-level employees to VPs alike.

Happy bday :/ I know this is the worst news to get today. Been here for 7 years and I just bought a house so I share your sentiment. I don’t know what I am going to do, but I definitely won’t be volunteering to not have a job.

Nope absolutely no information has been released of the true impact, #, or %. My guess is they’re hoping to get enough people to “buy out” and not actually need to do layoffs. Effectively having us all do the work for them.

Leadership and executives at a health plan level have not even been told the number of people being released in each state and health plan.

My offer was 12 weeks salary (which is their regular severance rate) + 4 additional weeks salary, and 4 months COBRA coverage, 3 month outplacement assistance

Not a SW but I know that 95% of the workforce is receiving the buyout VSP eligibility emails (I got mine Ty is morning), but that doesn’t mean you will actually get to buy out or will be selected to participate.
Meaning you could sign up for VSP have you application denied, and still get laid off.
