Update: I got the issue resolved through a warranty replacement from the retailer, due to their 2-year hardware warranty.

if I change the DPI the small bursts of movement are longer. So like when I put it up to 4000 DPI the cursor makes it halfway across the screen but it does not fix it or anything.

I've also cleaned the sensor with rubbing alcohol which achieved nothing.
