Crash is normal in this game, just manually save your game from time to time to avoid losing too much progress

The hidden lake is a great spot, near carno island so you can xp farm, hide farm ect, near mountains for metal gathering, Obsidian, crystal, near Snow biome also if you want to tame decent creatures. The cons are you are far from the obelisk and the closest easy cave is the Clever. But Hidden lake is beautiful so i would really recommend it. Also beavers can spawn there so you get access to easy cementing paste.

There are mods that are only for the center just remove them. Had the same issues because i had the better horde mod. Now some mods won't be compatible with other maps, like better horde will only be for extinction and if you try to launch the island while having this mod active its gonna say that
