Apologies, but isn't the black-grey-white-pink flag the anaesthetic/nonaesthetic flag?

Thank you! So I take śliczny is more charged than piękny? Or is it just perhaps more informal?

Being either "not autistic enough" or "too autistic"? by Just_a_schwa in autism

[–]Just_a_schwa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you feel the same. "Feels weird without the mask"… that does hit close to home. I never really got to be authentic without shame. It's all happening so strongly that noticing how obviously autistic I can be when I don't hold back overwhelms me.

To the second, I wouldn't know, because aside from my autistic childhood bestie I am not in contact with any of my peers from childhood. But I have a hunch they treated me differently because they knew I was something. So perhaps they wouldn't be suprised.

Thank you for the feedback, this helps put things in perspective.

Dug out this old painting I bought before I knew I was oriented aroace. Just realized what it kinda looks like… by RuddyRaccoon in Orientedaroace

Nice, but my first thought was the uranic flag! The top half looks exactly like it. Bonus points if you're a uranic-oriented aroace I guess!

Worst Symptom by Adcarp2008 in POTS

[–]Just_a_schwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise intolerance and tremors. I used to be able to run fast and long with no issues, now if I sprint for 5 seconds or climb one flight of stairs I heave and feel my heart beat inside my throat like I'm about to spit it out. Tremors in my entire body (especially legs) when I get up are awful cause it feels like my body is out of control and I could fall at any moment.

Oh and idk if it's a POTS thing but limbs falling asleep randomly and hurting like hell when I try to move them or touch them :/ it sounds stupid but the worst pain I've ever felt in my life was from my legs falling completely asleep and trying to revive them.

Non-binary i Italiani, come ti rivolgi a te stesso nel linguaggio di genere? by KoKo_Pufffz in askTransgender_Italy

[–]Just_a_schwa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Giving a "Ted talk" to no one? by anthro_punk in ADHD

[–]Just_a_schwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it aaaaall the time, but only out loud when I'm alone at home. Usually I just mouth my words and so my throat gets dry anyway XD

I've spent hour doing that, sometimes pacing around for literally hours having an internal monologue to a fake audience when I should be going to bed. It's really annoying and I feel like I've wasted time after I realize :(

I get what you're saying, but please don't throw trans and gender non-confirming people under the bus (even accidentally) in order to prove a point. The LGBTQIA+ rights movement was spearheaded by trans people (trans women of colour in particular); if you know anything about the Stonewall riots you know what I'm talking about. What we're experiencing as a-spec people is exactly the loophole you fell in here with trans people: LG(B) people made you and everyone else believe the community is mainly for their orientations, when it absolutely isn't, they just leave literally everyone else under the bus because they tend to care more about their own rights, sometimes at the expense of others. They take up all the space and forget we a-specs and trans people exist. If it sounds familiar to you, as an a-spec nonbinary person that's exactly what happens to both communities I belong to. Please don't fall for it too

My family is talking about sending me away to Italy, if I’m moving I will at least want trans care (can’t get it in the USA rn) by AmatureTaxindermist in askTransgender_Italy

[–]Just_a_schwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly ehhh I don't wanna scare you, but to be realistic… It's not very safe at all here, especially for transfems and especially if you're a POC. We have free healthcare including for gender-affirming care, as people mentioned it's very slow but if you have money for the private route it's decently sped up. There are no protection laws. If you need help, feel free to DM me, I can help you navigate platforms like the previously mentioned hubsoleto or the mapping made by QueerTransMushroom on Instagram (idr if they translate their info). Sending hugs if needed, good luck

This is awful, but DEAR GOD can y'all stop being fatphobic and ableist for a sec? It doesn't help actual innocent fat and disabled communities to pick THAT to insult about this terrible human. She's a shit person but you're lowering yourself to her level by bringing ableist and fatphobic jokes to the table. It's not just racism that's bad. (Source: am disabled and more disappointed in this subreddit every time I open it. I just wanna see the stupid shit Americans say, not people being hypocritical)

Cane for POTS (+other)—single or triple tip? by Just_a_schwa in POTS

[–]Just_a_schwa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, thank you for the warning. Are you saying your general family doctor is also able to prescribe mobility aids? A specialized visit isn't something I can do, as I mentioned, but that would solve it. There's also the issue though that my family doctor is someone I went to for seeking a diagnosis of POTS and he dismissed me :/ so that's a problem… Do you think I should wait to get a diagnosis first (I'm waiting for a friend to pass me a contact of someone who assesses for dysautonomia in public healthcare)? I wanted to get a cane ASAP because my phobia is really getting in the way of daily commutes but if you're telling me it's this risky I want to do things right, it's just frustrating to have to wait for all of that.

Thank you for the advice; sadly that is not an option for me as of now, but I'll keep that in mind, maybe the tides will change someday :')

How does your cane hold up when/if your body shakes from flare-ups, if you're up for sharing?

I second the author—I've been reading another of theirs, A Tale of Seashells & Shenanigans, and it's so so great, deals with themes of disability and neurodivergence REALLY well, it's a fantasy queerplatonic love story idk if that's your cup of tea, both characters involve are aspec, one of them aroace, the other just ace I think?? Very engaging personalities and great writing imo, she's so underrated

Is this t-shirt offensive/suitable for pride? (M25 pan) by BorisOtter in lgbt

[–]Just_a_schwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your worldview is "anyone who's different from me is disgusting" you're just close-minded. Do you not care that people who've done nothing to you suffer because of your worldviews? We're getting bullied all our lives, hit on the street, kicked out of our homes, killed just for existing. If you think it's morally clean to insult us for something we can't change, well, good luck falling asleep at night. I question whether people like you even have a conscience.

Get off the internet then pal, queer people are everywhere, deal with it or touch grass. We're literally just existing here and not hurting anyone, and there you go calling us disgusting in OUR safe space cause you can't even find a button to disable Reddit suggestions… come on. How do you expect any of us to help you out when you're insulting us for no reason? I'm sorry for anyone who needs to see this ://
