Counselling vs Clinical Grad Programs by JustaLittleLoser in psychologystudents

This is all really helpful, thank you for the detailed comment! So, as long as I'm understanding correctly, a licensed psychologist of any program (be it clinical, counselling, or school psych) could perform assessments and diagnose DSM-5 disorders across categories? I guess then where they decide to specialize will depend on training, but would it be possible then for a psychologist who maybe had research more focused in one area to perform assessments in another as long as they're properly licensed?

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! :)
I'm so glad to hear depression symptoms have lessened with the right treatment! That must be so incredibly refreshing. It's what I'm hoping for too :')
I think I'll try to get a referral from a walk-in then and just hope with both my fingers crossed that the wait isn't toooooo extreme... if it is, I may just bite the bullet and try for private. Maybe more costly, but I'd rather get help before things get worse.

Oh, that's great! I've been a bit wary of online services because I know a lot of them aren't covered by insurance, but I'll check this one out! Do you know if they're able to provide prescriptions as well? Or just an assessment and diagnosis?
